If so, and don't take this as fact because I'm not 100% certain, but I believe his Perpetual nature is related to being reincarnated and actually remembering all his past lives. From what I've seen Perpetuals don't have the same form of immortality. It works differently for each individual. Which makes sense because there's not that many of them out there. I think fewer than a dozen that we know of.
