What are people's thoughts on eliminators for Fists now they have received a price drop.

They seem really cost effective now as from what I can tell they benefit from the chapter doctrine of exploding sixes, and you can give the sergeant gate breaker bolts which hit on 2+.

I've used them a couple of times and they took out a Chaos champion and nearly took out Khârn the Betrayer (saved by a command point re-roll). They have also whiffed completely in a couple of turns. I plan to keep running them but keen to hear how people have found them most effective.

Hadn't even thought about the las fusil variety. Tempted to run two squads now, one with for character hunting and one for tank hunting.

I used them again in a recent battle against Adeptus Mechanicus and found the hyper frag round pretty useful against large squads or rangers, again with the exploding 6.

Your post inspired me to build a list for them. I ended up bringing three Eliminator Squads, 2x with Sniper Bolt Rifles and one with Lasfusils. I also added a Captain in Phobos Armor with Eye of Hypnoth and the Marksman’s Honours trait. I think for 400 pts, it’s not a bad mix. Of course need some extra support to really bring things down.

I’ve found one or two units do very well for backfield objectives holding and, if you get the los, some character sniping.

Against low T characters you can get one kill per turn. Characters (HQ and Elite) play very important roles in 9ed armies (apothecary, tau commanders, chaos apostole, psykers, are an example). I’ve found useful the ability to pick them, and even influencing their movement has value.

As fists, in my opinion, ignoring light cover and the possibility of some bonus hits are great bonus.

I think the price drop has made them an interesting proposition and ability to put special ammo on the seargent is great as he is a perfect caddy with his BS2+.

I think I lean slightly in favour of the Sniper variant as they fill a niche for Marines in removing buff characters. For anti-tank I prefer multimeltas for the extra damage or Lascannon Devs for the S9.

Hyper frag rounds are great at horse clearing! D3 shots a piece (which against hordes will be 3) with exploding sixes makes this unit a viable threat! They are effectively throwing out the firepower of a 9 man stalker bolt rifle intercessor squad at that point.
