Space wolves idea

Hi everyone. I'm looking at building a hunting force of space wolves using the recon row which I made.

This question is mostly about he scheme. I want to paint them black apart from the pads and I might do some painted skulls on the helmets.

The fluff behind it, the force was put together after the battle of prospero, their main job is to hunt down and kill any remaining 1k sons. So I want to reflect this by painting them black apart from the pads. I think this would be a different approach to sw and be different.

Any thoughts on ? Yay or nay

It's a bit odd that they paint themselves black and completely unheared of in the SW Legion. Only Deathsworn are painted this way.

Sounds good to me - are you thinking of black with grey shoulder pads and red markings then?

The official artwork for a MKIV pale hunter in Book 7: Inferno has the recon marine in a very dark grey that is almost black. I say you go ahead.

How about instead of hunters they are all Field Police, leaning towards Rogue Trader (maybe tone down the red and yellow to be more Wolfy though)?

Ye olde fluffe had black armour marking someone as directly doing the emperors work.(I believe, my memory goes off the old description of chaplains description)

 

Alternatively, they could be painted black because of shame, maybe they failed Russ in pursuing the Thousand Sons, so they are on a penitent mission?

 

Or, maybe just have them be black because they are recon, it works for the Raven Guard, after all!
