battle captain corpus
‘Twas the 8th year of M2. A younger, leaner, less grey BCC began a month long project…to paint a 1500 points list for tournaments. Grabbing washes and minis he successfully completed this mission… The chapter went onto become lost in the annals of time. Finding a place eventually as a foot note on the interweb as one of the numerous unofficial sons of Dorn. Though others have painted them over the years, only one true hobbyist is their creator. Finally…in the 21st year of M2 BCC is back. To bring the fires of vengeance in Dorns name to the galaxy. The Justicars of Dorn are back! Yeeeehaaaa! I’m back with the loyalists for now folks! Its been a loooooong path but we’re here! The first test mini is below alongside some original pics of the first army! The chapter was a brief project and was my main army during 4/5/6th edition. Now sadly none of the original army exists. But fear not weary traveller for here ye shall see my efforts to bring this glorious chapter back unto the tabletop! For Dorn! For vengeance!BCC Edited July 7, 2021 by battle captain corpus Jolemai, Bjorn Firewalker, WarriorFish and 3 others 6 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/370934-bcc%E2%80%99s-%E2%80%9Cjusticars-of-dorn%E2%80%9D/ Share on other sites
WarriorFish
Quite the mix of bits in the original army, even some older school Marines. It'll be worth looking at updating their scheme with the likes of Contrast paints since you're starting anew, especially given the scheme. You don't have to use them over the "special" primers either, the bone one could be good over a white primer to achieve the same colour but more evenly? Will you be keeping the colours exact, or making adjustments e.g. different shade for shoulders? I've always like the Imperial Fists, though if I were to partake it would have to be the OG Sons of Dorn as much as I love DIY battle captain corpus 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/370934-bcc%E2%80%99s-%E2%80%9Cjusticars-of-dorn%E2%80%9D/#findComment-5717480 Share on other sites
Bjorn Firewalker
The models look well done, but as their armor is light-colored, they should be photographed against a dark background, the contrast making the models easy to see. As is, the photos look overexposed, making it difficult to see the details you apparently put a lot of effort into. battle captain corpus 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/370934-bcc%E2%80%99s-%E2%80%9Cjusticars-of-dorn%E2%80%9D/#findComment-5717487 Share on other sites

Those pics are of the original army & the pics themselves are from 2008. ;) @WarriorFish. Yes contrast paints may make an appearance I think! I to have always been a staunch supporter of Dorn, hence why the Justicars even took the emblem of the Fists as their own to. Though this is also because I needed a design and quickly! This time around I’ll be looking for a newer design. Still something as emblematic but unique to them. The search will begin for that in due course! The main thing is going to be getting minis on the board ASAP. My Black Legion are a sprawling force now and have got to a point where I’m very proud/happy of them. When the new SM codex came out I was overjoyed and invested in it & the cards. My Genesis Chapter project stalled though (house move, job change!) so I won’t lose momentum this time! battle captain corpus
Grabbed some time this evening to try and get some basics done. Is it really a test mini when you’ve painted loads of them…albeit 13 years ago? It all came flooding back to me to be honest! Reminded me of sitting in our old flat, feverishly smashing out squads for the first tournament! This time around I’m going with a very basic base as well but just the classic dirt & grass. I’ve had enough of snow bases with my Black Legion for now! Bjorn Firewalker
Is the new model's tan armor meant to be desert camouflage, or is it symbolic, e.g., meant to represent the sandstone used to build pyramids, to show how the Chapter builds up and then protects human civilization in a savage and barbaric galaxy? battle captain corpus
Nope it’s literally bone coloured as it’s easy to paint. The GW washes had only recently been released back when I created this chapter and as such it was fun to bash out minis really quickly with them. As for background into the chapter? There is none. Literally zero! For a DIY chapter that’s pretty weird I know but I’m sure I’ll develop something over time! Bjorn Firewalker
Nope it’s literally bone coloured as it’s easy to paint. Color has great symbolic value. You should say, "The Justicars of Dorn wear bone-white armor to show they're ready and willing to bring death at any moment- to their enemies and to themselves, if necessary- to protect the Imperium and its subjects."
