rye0006
Lightning claws and chainswords give 1 extra attack when used to fight. If you are equipped with dual lightning claws, for example, do you then get 2 extra attacks? So, a vanguard veteran (2 attacks) with dual lightning claws (+2 attacks) that charged (+1 attack) is making 5 attacks? armarnis
Yep. Same goes for two chainswords but for loyalist those are difficult to equip Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/371028-lightning-claws/#findComment-5721316 Share on other sites
rye0006
Awesome, I was playing on Saturday and only giving +1 attack for dual claws. I was cheating myself! Captain Idaho
Olden days would have a single extra attack for a pair, but now the weapon rules have shifted so you get an additional attack using then Lightning Claw, with all your attacks using a single melee weapon. So on that basis a Vanguard Veteran has 2 attacks, +1 for Shock Assault and +1 per Lightning Claw as follows their rules for a total of 5 each. It gets silly when you stack it with other bonuses too, such as a Chaplain's Exhortation of Rage for +1 to wound and any reroll to hit. Things like The Standard of Macragge Inviolate that grant an additional attack are similarly power on such a combination. XeonDragon
Awesome, I was playing on Saturday and only giving +1 attack for dual claws. I was cheating myself! Lol Don't feel bad. I once forgot about BOTH bonus attacks - I was super sleep-deprived, had come to the game straight from work (regular FLGGS tournament series). My opponent kept asking me if lightning claws re-rolled hits (turned out he was trying to help me, he knew I had forgotten something about them, but didn't know what it was as he doesn't/never plays space marines), I kept saying no, kept attacking with my dark fury as VGVs with only 11 attacks from the squad of 5 instead of 21! :( Needless to say, I lost the game (but only by 3 points). Morty would have died if not for that! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/371028-lightning-claws/#findComment-5721620 Share on other sites

XeonDragon
A hard lesson to learn for sure. Yep. Captain Idaho
It's easy enough to forget about stuff in this game but losing out on something as a you play is a great way to remember in future! :) Lightning Claws are awesome. They're literally the best melee weapon available to infantry that isn't specialised. Vanguard love them and if you want to whack a weapon on a Sergeant it is definitely the best choice for cost. Karhedron
Indeed, point for point, Lightning Claws are better than chainswords, even vs chaff units. Commander Nicky
Can a pair of lightning claws be master crafted? I mean can only one of them be it, or because it is a pair, can they both be it? I am thinking of a terminator sergeant with a pair of master crafted lightning claws you see... RAW, I don't think so, the space wolf frost weapon specifically says it works on both if you have 2, wording which is absent on MC weapon. RAI, I think it would make sense from the standing of speeding up the game, and that fluffwise, twin LCs are made as a pair (the raven's talons, and ebonclaws definitely were), so it would make sense that if you had two, you would get a pair made by the chapter artificers, rather than one. Dracos
A "Pair" of Lightning Claws can be master-crafted. Lightning Claws x2 can not. Commander Nicky
So for example: a Terminator sergeant who has 2 x lightning claws (pair) can have them MS, but a vanguard veteran sergeant who choose to have 2x lightning claws, can only get 1 lightning claw MS... It is correct? The (pair) has to be included..? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/371028-lightning-claws/#findComment-5724225 Share on other sites
Captain Idaho
I'm pretty sure there is no such thing as a "pair" of Lightning Claws anymore. Terminator Assault squads like everyone else can replace X,Y warhead with 2 Lightning Claws. And there is no weapon entry for a pair of Lightning Claws either. This is disappointing but we can still Mastercraft 1 Lightning Claw and benefit from all the attacks bar 1 with the extra damage. White Scars are especially dangerous with Lightning Claws...
