MichaelCarmine
Hello there! I'm Michael and new to the Forum, playing Horus Heresy since book three though - thats when mah Raven-Boys saw the light of day! =] There's an event comin up at the end of the year and i'd like to know your opinion about my universal list, that i'm planning to field. The Event has certain "rules" for listbuilding, but most of them are irrelevant for my RG, except - No Relics and AA can only be taken by ICs, so no Artificer-Sergeants (except the ones that already come with it, like the Chooser of the Dark Furys). Please tell me what you think =] Raven Guard 2500 pts (Decapitation Strike) HQ: - Preator with Artificer Armor, JumpPack, Paragon-Blade, Digital Lasers (goes with the Destroyers)- 185pts Elites: - Apothecary, JumpPack (goes with the Dark Furies) - 60pts - Destroyer Squad (10), JumpPacks, 2 Rad-Missile Launchers, Sergeant with Power Fist - 295pts - Veteran Tactical Squad (10), Drop Pod, 4 Combi-Meltas, Meltagun, Melta Bombs, 2 Power Axes, Sergeant with Combi-Melta and Raven's Talon - 330pts - Contemptor Mortis Dreadnought, 2 Kheres Assault Cannons - 180pts Troops: - Legion Tactical Squad (10), Drop Pod, Aditional Wargear, Sergeant with Power Fist - 195pts - Legion Assault Squad (10), Melta Bombs, 2 Power Axes, Sergeant with Raven's Talons - 275pts Fast Attack: - Dark Fury Assault Squad (8) - 265pts - Seeker Squad (7), 7 Combi-Plasma, Land Raider Proteus (Dedicated Transport), Dozer Blade - 435pts Heavy Support: - Leviathan Siege Dreadnought, Leviathan Storm Cannon, 2 Heavy Flamer, Siege Claw - 280pts I've had a few games with this list and so far it worked pretty well even with my Sergeants being "inferior" to the ones from my opponent. Only thing that i'm not 100% happy with is the Veteran Tactical Squad... It does pull his weight in every game, but i dont like it being this expensive vor one-wound (DropPodding) 3+ save guys =/ although thes are pulling a lot of enemy fire from my jumpers in general. Maybe i just drop the 2 axes... but they worked so good against Terminators... aaargh xD One thing i don't want to change is the Tactical Squad - i like it that way. =] Best regards and greetings from germany, Michael Edited July 22, 2021 by MichaelCarmine Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/371055-raven-guard-2500pts-event-rules/ Share on other sites
Lautrec the Embraced
Welcome, your list feels alright in my opinion, though there is a certain lack of anti-tank firepower even if Levy and Kheres can work in a pinch. I like the praetor, looking scary against characters with S6, PE and Rad nades on charge! Melta Veterans are rather expensive but I like to use a very similar squad - keep the axes though I'd add a second meltagun, it's useful to have at least some semblence of danger against stray vehicles even after the initial volley. Leviathan with short ranged heavy flamers seems not optimal if you don't take a Pod. Instead, Volkite Caliver pairs well with Storm cannon and will add around 1.4 dead marine every time it shoots. I'd think about taking max number of Seekers or moving them up to a Pod. You're paying a lot for a transport for measly 8 guys, I'd say points could be spend more aggressively, for example on 2 Javelins / trusty Rapiers. You could also invest into more Dark Furies. Btw, optimal placement of the apothecary could be debated. With Furies, he cost as much as 2 extra members while improving their durability (math wise) by additional 4 members. However, with Destroyers he buffs their survivability by 5 bodies and gives very useful FnP to your warlord. I'd probably choose the latter. But as you see, mostly only minor tweaks came to my mind. MichaelCarmine
Thanks! =] Yeah, i udually go with two Meltaguns, but to get to the 2500pts, i swapped one for a combi-Melta to keep the 6 initial shots... it will get changed back, if points become available =] Yaaaa, thats on me and my first build... i thought of magnetising the arms, but had no magnets left over xD First Inclusion was in fact a dropping Melta-Lance Leviathan, at that time, Flamers where the logical choice... Yes, that was my thought too, but i do like an Infiltrating Land Raider in this List =] It can get closer to the selected seeker target and might also infiltrate in the sides of a Flare-Raider I did consider a drop pod, just to drop two in the first round, but i playd a few games with them in a pod and they never survived the backlash. With the raider, i can "easily" infiltrate (maybe even scout, if i give him the 50pts upgrade) them near their prey and position him against most of the incoming fire against them. and in the folowing turn, the survivers just embark and grab an objective. I would like maybe an eigth seeker, but 13/14 plasma wounds usually do the trick =] Yeah, i considered bringing the apothecary with the Preator, but i rather have one more dark fury arrive in melee, than a destroyer =] the one model that didn't always deliver was the Mortis Contemptor - ok, maybe because i mostly fail the first Invuln and it explodes every...f**king...time! I could swap him with a Deathstorm Pod (geting 2 to drop in 1dt) and have ponts to fill Seekers/Dark Furys...
