Going starting rate for a Copy Editor in Scotland is about £18-£25k... So for Nottingham, I would expect the salary to be slightly higher, but not by that much.

Obviously this increased with experience etc.

Having to be office based in this day is a major turn off for any job

I'm the exact opposite. I thrive in the professional, working environment. If a job requires teamwork or high levels of communication, doing it in an office environment with a team around you if far more effective.

Imagine how much better the lore would be if people didn’t have to move to the UK to contribute. There’s tons of talent in the US, Aus/NZ, and Europe That could take really kick it up a notch that can’t afford to move to the UK.
