Brother Tyler
A common complaint is that Games Workshop hasn't given us a lot of rules/model options to represent the variety of auxiliaries that the T'au are known to incorporate into their military forces. We have the Kroot and the Vespid, and enterprising players might make use of Imperium models to represent Gue'vesa, but the T'au incorporate auxiliaries from many more xenos species that aren't represented. Personally, I think it is unlikely that GW will give us official rules for myriad T'au auxiliaries, though many of us hoping for some in the next codex. It occurred to me that hobbyists in more tolerant groups might be allowed to use homegrown rules in order to include T'au auxiliaries in their armies. To that end, I wonder if the concepts that we developed for the Inquisition and Rogue Traders in Kill Team might provide a solid foundation for adaptation into the Warhammer 40,000 game. jarms48
I made some basic Gue'vesa rules that allow Tau Empire players to take options directly from codex Imperial Guard / Astra Militarum directly in their detachment (because they would now share keywords). T’au Empire Detachments: Gue'vesa: Replace the Imperium and Astra Militarum keywords with T’au Empire, replace the <Regiment> keyword with Gue'vesa. Add Gue'vesa to the list of Alien Auxiliaries. Gue'vesa characters may not be given any Signature Systems and cannot be chosen as your Warlord. Gue’gel’vesa: Replace the Imperium and Astra Militarum keywords with T’au Empire, replace the Militarum Auxilia keyword with Gue’gel’vesa. Add Gue’gel’vesa to the list of Alien Auxiliaries. Note Gue’gel’vesa only applies to the Ogryns datasheet from codex Astra Militarum. The combined points value of all your Gue’vesa and Gue’gel’vesa units must be less than half of your army’s total points value. What this unlocks: - Gue'vesa and Gue’gel’vesa units would benefit from an Ethereal's Failure is not an Option and Invocation of the Elements abilities. - Gue'vesa and Gue’gel’vesa units would benefit from Commander Shadowsun's Command-link Drone ability, as well as her Advanced Guardian Drones ability. - Gue'vesa and Gue’gel’vesa units would benefit from Markerlights. - Gue'vesa and Gue’gel’vesa units would be able to use Automated Repair System, EMP Grenade, Point-Defence Targeting Relay, Aerial Targeting, and Modulated Weaponry stratagems. What this restricts: - Any form of Astra Militarum regimental doctrines, named characters, relics, and stratagems. - Limits the datasheets to solely <Regiment> and Ogryns units. So no Militarum Tempestus, no Advisors and Auxilla. - No longer can ally with any Imperium factions or receive benefits from their abilities. IE: Inquisitors, Celestine, etc. Edited August 10, 2021 by jarms48 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/371258-tau-auxiliaries-homegrown-rules-idea/#findComment-5728824 Share on other sites
