Now, hear me out before everyone jumps on me about adding in an Ordos Xenos Inquisitor.... I know, I know, GKs are Ordos Malleus, so there are some fluff concerns.

That said, there are plenty of fluff justifications for bringing along a Xenos Inquisitor, including GKs dealing with a Chaos manifestation in a Xenos army, Xenos forces on a planet that houses a portal to the warp that can allow Daemons in, etc., etc.

Gameplay wise, you can give a Xenos Inquisitor a unique WL Trait that regenerates CP on a 5+ when your opponent uses a Strat, which is a critical shortfall of GKs right now (who are very CP hungry).

Additionally, for almost half the cost of a Strike Squad, you get a model who can hold an Objective in the backfield and cast a power on himself to be untargettable unless he is the closest unit to them.

Since an Inquisitor can be included without breaking any detachment bonuses, I think this might be a pretty easy unit to "slot" into an existing GK list instead of, say, a unit if Servitors which do nothing else for the army except hold Objectives in the open.

I was just reading about this idea in the GK Discord.

I think it is a unique Idea. It frees up taking the Inquistor as a Psyker to to get the CP regenerating which may or may not go off.

Inquistors have been know to change Ordos

I think it has a lot of potential, particularly since inquisitors can be moderately shooty and have potential for support roles with relics and the like. Give him the xenos toxin and an ok melee weapon in case he ever needs to make a desperation charge.

I have tried a very similar build in other armies and he works quite well. I do find the CP regen to be less reliable in practice than it looks on paper. Since it is capped at 1CP per battle round, if your opponent burns a lot of points in a few key turns, you may struggle to get it to kick in enough.

Still, worth a punt for not very many points. I converted mine from a BSF mini and it came out quite well.

Old fluff was always that literally only the Ordo Malleus knew that the Grey Knights existed, so a Xenos Inquisitor isn't calling on the Grey Knights.

Eisenhorn never let being Ordo Xenos stop him from fighting Daemons so there's no reason why they wouldn't end up on the same battlefield, but to a Grey Knight if an Inquisitor isn't Ordo Malleus then he might as well be a Guardsman or a member of the Ecclesiarchy and is a temporary ally who needs to be mind wiped or terminated in the long run.

That is a good point. However in the new fluff, the Great Rift can be seen from thousands of light years away. Knowledge of Chaos cannot be suppressed as easily as it was in the past as the Inquisition and GKs don't have the resources to mind-wipe half the Imperium.

It is too dependent on how much strats does your opponent use per turn. And you have to spend 1 CP before that even to gain access to it. I liked that ide initially but depending on your opponent to use lots of strats in different turns kinda ruins it.

That was the problem I ran into. He normally broke even but rarely made a profit. Some players like to spend a lot of CPs pre-game on extra WLTs and Relics which further eats into his effectiveness.

Personally I like hector rex. As he can deep strike so you can get him in range for mental interrogation to gain cp that way. Also means there is a greater likely hood to get within 3" of a character for the once a game strat.
