New project time! I was unhappy with how the Dark Angels I started a few months ago were looking, black is such a hard color to get right. So after much waffling, and a generous donation of reinforcements, I have decided to start the legion I love most, the Ultramarines. The late Republican-era Roman vibes I get from them are some of my favorite in the Heresy.

Currently I am working on 1000pts for Zone Mortalis and Centurion play, but I will expand (Emperor knows I have the models at this point!).

Anyway, here are a couple more pictures of this fella:

Looking forward to showing everyone the progress on this army, I am set up and ready to go!

That's really nice blue and some really nice subtle weathering. How will you base them and what's up on the painting table?

Thanks a lot! For the bases I am waffling between ship decking and blasted ruins (charred Doric columns and marble…Calth/Shadow Crusade themed). The first item on the agenda is to complete the two 10 man Tactical squads to go along with this fella then a Contemptor. After that will probably be some vets, breachers, heavy support squad, or Invictarii. Haven’t quite decided on the HQ yet, probably a Delegatus.

Looking awesome!

Any idea which direction you want to go with your army's units? Shield wall, elite-heavy, basic tactical bois?

Thanks man! Currently I am going for a mix between a Tactical Company and Shield-Wall. Trying to decide if I want to have them as a ship-based company that was present at Calth or a more defensive occupying force from one of the handful of Chapters that wasn’t present at Calth. Aside from the core blocks of the army I think that will influence the unit decisions moving forward.

Turning a theoretical into a practical! Sounds like a great plan - and love the tester marine. Looking forward to what comes next!
