Go figure, no mention of dread knight base size in the product description. Daemon prince is 60mm.

*edit* Didn’t see the most recent page of comments, PutridChoir already mentioned base size.

Daemon Prince base is 60mm. Dread knight base is 120x92mm base, almost double the size.

Edit: grammar

Can confirm, I used one as a basis for my Thousand Sons Demon prince back in 6th edition, and had a nightmare of a time reposing the legs to fit on a 60mm.

I have used the old Inquisitor Tyrus (is that the right name?) from the now dead Inquisitor game by GW as the base for my IW DP:

There is a potential that they will resize the daemon prince model if one takes into account Belakor. On one hand I hope they don't resize the model however if they are indeed going to be changing it up so that all the daemon primarchs/daemon princes are about the same size I wouldn't complain too much.

Be'lakor is mostly just better proportioned. His torso and arms are smaller than the customisable prince. Magnus is huge while Be'lakor and Mortarion are similarly sized so no standardisation on Daemon Prince/Primarch size is possible.

@Closet Skeleton - I agree with that but the point still stands that they are making the daemon prince models a lot larger than what they used to. I do hope they continue that thread, just like I'd hope that they would do that to the nids and their big bugs. Would be awesome to see the greater sizes really come into play.

Newest Prince other than Be'lakor is Syll'Esske who's still on 60mm. Don't have him to directly compare to Be'lakor. Though if you count Syll as a Daemon Prince(ss) then she's small.

Syll Lewdtongue is a Herald of Slaanesh and Esske is the Daemon Prince.

So, finally having received and assembled my Argel Tal I can say without a doubt I could see someone using him as a Daemon Prince.

He's larger than resin Be'lakor and after some comparison the Obliterator is the closest model for a size comparison. Roughly the same size with Tal having a sleeker profile.

Expanding on this, while Syll'Esske is only on a 60mm base, Esske is about the height of a Primarch model (as in 40k Guilliman and the 30k Primarchs)

There is also the other new AoS demon prince that is about the same size as Syll'Esske (I think) that you could try:

Or the new AoS 2-in-1 slaneshi character kit, though they may be too large:

Sigvald isn't a Daemon Prince, he's just a chaos lord with horn mutations at least according to his rules.

Yeah I’d seen a converted Eske used as a fancy demon Lorgar.

That's one primarch I wouldn't mind if the gw team deviated a bit from older art. Mostly when it comes to the crown of horns on his head and the oversized hands.

I'd be pretty happy if Fulgrim was nothing like the most recent load of art in detail. Want the snake legs and wings but the previous interpretations are bad. I don't care if Angron looks a lot less 'generic Bloodthirster' either.

Dexcessa/Synessa have a pretty bit footprint, but we their bodies are actually fairly small compare to the standard keeper. I think they could make good conversion bait

  • 2 weeks later...

Maybe just exclude the "wings?" I'm not sure if it'll work, not too hip on that kit.

Speaking of alternative DP, I will be making a Tzeentch Daemon prince out of the AoS Corpse-Rippa Vulcha. Given that I dont play Tabletop, I dont quite care if it wont be "legal" size.  I just need an excuse to buy that glorious bird
