Two members were banned recently (well, about a month ago). The banning of these two members prompted the administrators and moderators to discuss the merits of publicly announcing when members are banned for repeated misbehavior, leading to one of the changes to our rules mentioned here.

 

@Ishagu was banned for deliberately attacking and insulting another member via private message. His participation in discussions over the years was frequently crafted to provoke other members. Often it could be dismissed as innocuous, but there were multiple instances over the years where the disrespectful and non-constructive posts resulted in communications and warnings. The private messages he sent to the other member were completely unacceptable and were an effort to circumvent administrator/moderator notice.

 

@Lucerne, formerly known as Ugolino, was banned for repeated non-constructive and disrespectful behavior. The culminating point was a public fight with another member, but this was the last in a series of posts in which he posted his vitriolic views of certain elements of the lore in places where those views were neither relevant nor constructive. He, too, received numerous communications and discipline over the years, but refused to comply with the forum rules.

 

Per the policy linked above, this announcement will remained pinned for a period of time for visibility, but the topic will be locked and members will not be able to discuss the issue.
