Rules wise, I think T5 and 1 extra wound is worst than T4, 2+ save, 5+ Invulnerable save and 1 extra wound. However thematically, if you want the Gravis version then yes totally. I'm all about about and substance over rules where I can be.

But it's an interesting thing to discuss. Any Gravis versions of Captains and Chaplains have T5 which is a big deal, but delivery options are poorer and still only a 3+ save. What's more, the Captain can't have a Storm Shield and Thunder Hammer or a multitude of other weapons. Likewise, Chaplains and Librarians in Gravis won't have access to the combi weapons of the past either.

So should we expect a rules buff for Gravis characters at all?

I agree terminator armor is better, but gravis is a close second, and it being worse fits the fluff so I’m not too bothered by it.

Maybe a veteran aggressor squad where they all get iron halos or something similar could be a thing? Or a general gravis veteran squad that’s gets a a 5 or 6++

Definitely. It's all about personal fun for sure.

And it's not going to be so bad that opponents smash you so it's all good.

Where Gravis becomes better than Terminator Armour is the Armour Indomitus (though without Storm Shields) as you keep T5 and retain a 2+ save. :)

I fully expect we'll see Gravis-armored Chaplains and Librarians.  I'd like to think we'll get Gravis LTs as well; we did get Phobos LTs, but that one seems a little less concrete in my head for some reason.

I wouldn't say "no" to more, but I do feel like other ground ought to be tread first - like bikes.

How about jump packs? It doesn't have to be "jump pack and gravis" like inceptors - it could be a version of the Omnis armour worn by Suppressors.

I hope so. I personally really like the look of Gravis, and it only got better over time. The original Aggressors weren't quite right, the Flamer version especially has a few issues that spoil the kit for me.

Eradicators, Heavy Intercessors and the new Gravis Captain all look very good, however. More HQs in that armour would compliment the look of a themed force.

Next round of new general marine releases, anyone think we can expect a gravis chappy and a gravis Libby?

My bet is a bike captain, I would not be surprised by a Gravis character as well. I think the Primaris releases are going to become more character heavy in general, which is pretty impressive when you think about it.

Oh yes, another problem. Why take a Gravis Chaplain when you can take a Primaris Bike instead?

The chaplain is somewhat of a unique case because of the flexibility that litanies provide, With captains and other hqs the available wargear can matter a lot. Bikes also have some drawbacks in that they can't go through some terrain features.

That said the best reason to take a model is still that you think it looks cool. I post a lot about fixing underperforming units because I like underperforming units lol. I just don't recommend them because its tough to tell what people on forums are looking for. I'm sure there are a lot of players who will pick up gravis character day one even if they stink.

right?

Since the armor isn’t relegated to veterans it definitely makes sense to fill out the line more.

It’s weird that there’s essentially 3 distinct lines of space marines now.

First born

Tacticus

Gravis

4 if you count Phobos armour, which has a focus I found weird since the units in such armour duplicate each other quite a lot.

The Gravis line definitely appears unfinished though. It's got Troops and Elites, has 2 types of Captain but feels a little more sparse.

Having said that, there isn't a Phobos Chaplain so maybe we won't see that in Gravis?

:cuss being a lame ass meta chaser! Rule of cool and fluffy all the way!

Gravis unfinished? Only when you talk about the HQ lineup:

HQ - Captain in Gravis Armor, Captain with Master-Crafted Heavy Bolt Rifle

Elite - Aggressors

Troops - Heavy Intercessors

Fast Attack - Inceptors

Heavy Support - Eradicators

What other specialists are needed? Librarian, Chaplain, Ancient are all that are really missing. Maybe a dedicated melee, but I would prefer not to have the bloat.

the only reason there’s bloat is because they refuse to condense multiple units with the same stats into one datasheet with different weapons options

That's a pretty boring army, hopefully they do another close combat option. I can sorta understand not wanting the bloat but Marines have always felt that way.
