it is my understanding that any SB can exchange a chainsword for a powersword.

Yes. Every single model can have a power sword (!)

Axe, Maul, Hammer, dual claws as well as plasma pistol is limited to one each, and Pyre pistol is 2 each if the squad is 9 models or fewer. If you have 10 models, its 2 each, and 4 pyre pistols.

Oh! I can work with that! Not amazing, but I can still make it work.

That helps quite a bit in giving them options that aren't so scattershot.

Ah now that's awesome. Who needs claws and hammers when you have swords.

Are they just Power Swords? Or master crafted?

Looking at the Mob Rules video since that lets you cleanly see the pages: Power Swords, and the statline is the standard +1S, -3AP, D1 set up.

Regular

Oh...

So far I'm less and less convinced by them, Laeroth, sell them to us, before I glue a load of shields on their backpacks.

Eh, since it is what we've got I think the best way to run them will be all chainswords or power swords with a splash of one or two other weapons (based on if you have 5 or 10) based on what you want to tool them up for.

I suspect the biggest use of the kit will be giving us bits to upgrade Primaris SGTs in other squads though.

I dunno. I  could make that work just fine, methinks.

10 man squad

2x dual claws

2x hammer

2x maul

2x axe

2x power sword (one of which can become the sword of judgement relic)

and then the ability to add 2 plasma pistols and 4 hand flamers (which can become blast weapons)

There is potential to add a great deal of buffing as well.

i will likely get several boxes. They also need to become BGVs with a simple shield swap-in

I won't say it won't look cool but that's one expensive squad at that set up.

Can I put MM in the Impulsor?

A couple of Impulsors with Power Sword Sword Bros with the EC as a response force to break trough enemy lines with the Crusader squads hold the line with the redemptor, chaplains and Marshall sounds delicious for me.

Yes

I haven't had the time to read this properly, but can a primaris Crusader squad initiate be equipped with a power weapon?

The only power weapon option on a Primaris Crusader Squad Initiate is a power fist, which can be taken as 2 PF per 10 models (alternate options are the pyreblaster or heavy bolt pistol*, also 2 per 10).

*this is probably a mistake but it's what it says in the book

You're misreading it slightly - the options are a pyreblaster or both a heavy bolt pistol and power fist - which does make sense,

I'm suprised not one talking about the High Marshall, he seems like an auto include now.

I do love the two attack options for the sword, and the S5 bolter on his combi. He is a beast, and I will include him in all my 2k lists. Same for Grimaldus, he is a beast and his retinue gives cool abilities.

Ah, there we go. Thank you!

Problem is GW trying to phase out units like Vanguard Vets but they don't make SB compelling or flexible enough, they should have a few more unique rules. Still going to use them though.

Nothing melee based is going to make Vanguard Vets look bad as long as the terrain rules favor jump infantry like it does. Hands down the mobility of Vanguard is its biggest strength followed by it's melee output and loadout options.

I'm suprised not one talking about the High Marshall, he seems like an auto include now.

The more I look at the army, the more I wonder how many detachments I'll need for all the characters I want to bring.

I'm more interested in what Laeroth has to say than any of these reviewers. I don't know how long they've had the book, but probably not the half year something he has had it? Though getting hard deets should possible finally.

Oh, I have so much to say. So much to talk about. The combos in this book are awesome. We have so much play now.

Let's go then, Brother. Spill :D

It's 16 years of eugh reversed in one go. Is it perfect? Of course not, but it certainly gave a good run for the title.

Well, as you've been saying for ever, the models are the most important bit, because models usually mean rules to support them. So, barring an unholy travesty such as what happened after 4th, we should be ok going forwards. (It helps these kits are plastic too.)
