Since it's a relic, sacrifice your WL trait for 2 FP Manticores (1 CP), and take the Gatekeeper (1 CP). Then upgrade your Battallion to an Emperor's fist (1 cp) and take the Hammer of Sunderance (2 cp), then start the game with 0 CP and wonder why we have no CP to re-rolls all those 1's to wound... :huh.:

Except that All of that is not valid in matched play because Emperor’s fist is not legal and hammer of Sunderence is gone alongside that book. Super sad face

Hey, I can dream we get an updated and remotely effective army....

Although I can say I've been doing crusade lately and performing pretty well.  I'm currently 3-0-1, beating Thousand Sons.  18" rapid fire on a command squad is pretty brutal.  It just sucks that they are so expensive that they see such limited use in matched play.  Orders really do so little, except for re-rolling 1s on command squads and MMM!  I literally moved a squad 23" my last game to capture and objective and win the game.

We have the tools to be effective and compete, but there is soooooo much variability and we're sooo expensive that we're just waiting to "go hot".  If we go hot in time we win, if we don't, we lose.  But this supplement only brings Cadia up to par with other IG factions, but really doesn't address anything important, or even bring us to a B- tier.

Technically speaking specialist detachments are still perfectly legal outside of the tournament mission packs, so if you play missions out of the core book you can do so freely.

Hence why I specifically stated match play. Anyways it’s all dependent on the players involved. However not to detract from the topic. It’s great to see a conversation about the latest iteration of rules for the future of our beloved guard.

I’m excited to keep trying my Cadian conscript white shield spam.

Not to keep beating a dead horse but you specifically said the wrong thing. Matched play and tournament mission packs are not always the same thing, and there are several missions in the core rule book that are matched play.

Has anyone tried the new Cadian rules out in a game?

Yes, I have. Played against Custodes, Dark Angels, Black Templars, and Death Guard. All games were at 1k and I was running 3x30 Whiteshields led by Creed as my WL, Sanction Psyker, and an Ordo Malleus Inquistor in Terminator Armor. fun times. I had 1 heavy weapon Team, 3x Tauros Venators, Kell, a Sniper Command Squad, and Master of Ordinace. I won all games.

Unfortunately, this isn't saying much for the state of the IG army as a whole, or even with these rules.  At 1K points, I've beaten AdMech and new TS with my standard IG.  30 of anything is hard to deal with at 1K points unless you're prepared for it.  So the list isn't really strong, it's just a skew list.  For comparison, find an Ork player and have them take 3 Dakkajets against you.  Given codex creep, and the rules for Orks and Cadians should be on par with one another.  Do you think those 90 whiteshields will stand up to 3 Dakkajets alone, much less the other 600 points in the Ork army?
