Charlo
... seemingly an amazing tool for the Templars? A lot of people are fond of this thing and it's easy to see why: -T8 -HIGH damage weapons -Good Anti-tank shooting -built in to hit rerolls in CC -can be given reroll to wound aura that affects itself -assault launchers has some okay use However it's obviously quite slow and then still somewhat fragile with only 8 wounds. This is where the Templars come in... By being clad in black, with the right vow it gains a 5++, reroll to it's charges, only wounded on a 3+, 5+ against mortal wounds. Inside a dreadnought drop pod, this thing can do WORK. It has all the tools it could need to reliably get into CC and just tear apart something big and nasty while taking hits itself. rye0006
I love my ironclad and cannot wait to be trying it out with the new rules for our noble chapter. Karhedron
Dreadnoughts are generally good in 9th and Templars seem to get buffs that stack with them particularly well. Chuck in a Primaris Techmarine to buff and repair them and you have a solid core to build on. a_typical_hero
A lot of people are fond of this thing and it's easy to see why: -Good Anti-tank shooting A regular meltagun and two hunter-killer missiles isn't what I'd call "good anti-tank". This coupled with only 6" movement are the biggest problems of this Dread. SirJyo
Hurricane bolter can deal with infantry, dreadnought chain fist deletes vehicles. Best of both worlds, now with a 5++. You'll also notice that the 6" movement is mitigated by the Drop Pod :) XeonDragon 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/372050-the-ironclad-dreadnought/#findComment-5755752 Share on other sites
rye0006
You can also carry it with a stormraven, though that's then a lot of points in one destroyable basket. Medjugorje
They are not that often seen on the table Because he does nothing for his high points. Played him a few times. Dreads are still not really great. And the stormraven is even the worst XeonDragon 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/372050-the-ironclad-dreadnought/#findComment-5755832 Share on other sites
Marshal Mittens
I think most dreads are really good, tbh. The old twin Las + missile back field dread is small enough to easily hide in cover, and can really lay the hurt down on a lot of units. I think we see more forgeword or redemptor dreads because they are so much more killy for not much more in points. Especially now that FW is commonly accepted everywhere. But nooo, they just had to stop making 'em prior...
