... seemingly an amazing tool for the Templars?

A lot of people are fond of this thing and it's easy to see why:

-T8

-HIGH damage weapons

-Good Anti-tank shooting

-built in to hit rerolls in CC

-can be given reroll to wound aura that affects itself

-assault launchers has some okay use

However it's obviously quite slow and then still somewhat fragile with only 8 wounds.

This is where the Templars come in...

By being clad in black, with the right vow it gains a 5++, reroll to it's charges, only wounded on a 3+, 5+ against mortal wounds.

Inside a dreadnought drop pod, this thing can do WORK. It has all the tools it could need to reliably get into CC and just tear apart something big and nasty while taking hits itself.

A regular meltagun and two hunter-killer missiles isn't what I'd call "good anti-tank". :mellow.:

This coupled with only 6" movement are the biggest problems of this Dread.

Well, it's still three powerful shots that only add to it's destructive potential against vehicles.

You'll also notice that the 6" movement is mitigated by the Drop Pod :)

I think most dreads are really good, tbh. The old twin Las + missile back field dread is small enough to easily hide in cover, and can really lay the hurt down on a lot of units.

I think we see more forgeword or redemptor dreads because they are so much more killy for not much more in points.

I just wish twin autocannon was still an option for regular and venerable dreads. Especially now that FW is commonly accepted everywhere. But nooo, they just had to stop making 'em prior...
