A small hobby project, before a day of games on the 4th Dec

Part 1: The Rescue

Heyo all! For a while I've wanted to do a retro project, but I had no reason to beyond wanting. However, an event is being run in December - 1,000 points of 3rd edition 40k. It was the perfect excuse for me to start up this project.

There's two things I love most about this hobby. Rescuing models, and a bargain. Boy did I find both of those.

Welcome to the worst-wrapped and backed parcel I've ever received. What wonders are inside?

Okay, sarcasm aside, it was a shame the box itself was used as the outer layer of the parcel. It was in much nicer condition on the Ebay listing and I wanted to keep it. I still probably will, but (incoherent grumbling).

The models are not in great condition. But, they are whole enough, and there's so many of the green rods. These will be perfectly fixable.

20 Warriors, with a few more in repairable pieces...

3 Destroyers, with just one arm needing repair. Flight stands aren't great but they're easily replaceable...

3 Scarab Swarms, just the one repair needed...

And finally, 11 more Warriors and 7 more Scarab Swarms on sprue.

Now this is a lot of work. A lot of work I don't mind doing, but it had to be a bargain for me to spring for it. I'd made an army list that skipped on Immortals as the metal models cost so dang much...and it turned out this box had literally every model in that list apart from the Lord. This is really cool, I'm constantly hunting to try to get a retro space wolves army, so it's cool to see someone doing this!
