NiceGuyAdi
Whilst browsing around/getting lost in TTCombat's enormous scenery library, I came across their range of rattle can primers over here. Aside from the usual black and white cans, they've got a wide range of colour primers, at a decent price. Has anyone got experience with them? At £7.50 a can I'd just take a punt on them but hivemind opinions are always handy. RWJP
I've used their black and white primers and had decent results with them overall. I find the do dry a little more on the satin/gloss side of things, but it hasn't caused any issues so far. Cleon
If you do try them I'd be interested in how the dark red looks in comparison (and as a base for) khorne red - I have half an eye on it as a scenary undercoat. Spottswoode
I used Sprue Grey as a base coat rather than an undercoat, but it went on quite nicely. Like RWJP says above, there is a slight glossy shine to it, but not too much and certainly not so much that it can't be dulled down with washes and weathering. It doesn't come out of the can too heavy, and it's not so high pressured that it drowns the model in paint either, unlike Army Painter sprays. As for the actual colour, it's not an exact match for GW sprues but it's pretty close. It feels more warm, with maybe a very, very slight yellow / brown tone to it than the flat grey you get on bare plastic. Definitely worth a try for £7.50, although my local independent shop is phasing them out in favour of the Colour Forge range, which is 500ml rather than 400ml for only a quid more and is colour matched to GW paints (although I haven't tried them or spoken to anyone who has, so I can't vouch for that).
