XeonDragon
Hi all So, FLGS is running a small 3-round mini tournament (2k). I'll be facing Death Watch, Thousand Sons and Custodes, but lists are not revealed until the day. I've never played against or with Death Watch or Thousand Son, and have never won against Custodes. I play Raven Guard successors (I am taking born heroes and whirlwind of rage). I'd love some tips for what you have found works or does not work against those armies :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/372286-tips-for-handling-death-watch-thousand-sons-custodes/ Share on other sites
Tokugawa
One singleton psyker is the most horrible thing you could imagine when fight against TSons. Free 15 VPS for TSons player. So.... shoot or charge any psyker doing a psychic action? phandaal
What he means is do not bring a psyker in your list. Thousand Sons have a Secondary Objective called "Wrath of Magnus" that can only be taken if you have a psyker and gives them victory points for every turn they kill more models with psychic powers than you kill with psychic powers. You can imagine what happens, considering how many deadly psykers a TSons list can take. Instead of a psyker, consider taking a Culexus assassin. They can deploy with their own concealed shenanigans, they make your TSons opponent's life harder, and even against non-psyker lists they can still be useful. And if taking culexus, just play he/she as a normal melee hero, keep in look-out-sir range at early game. Don't throw the Culexus at the very front of your army, TSons has many tools to instant kill it. phandaal 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/372286-tips-for-handling-death-watch-thousand-sons-custodes/#findComment-5763179 Share on other sites
XeonDragon
Thanks, I usually don't run a librarian. I don't have a Culexus assassin (only have a vindicare) so, sadly, not an option at this time but will definitely keep in mind for the future :) phandaal 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/372286-tips-for-handling-death-watch-thousand-sons-custodes/#findComment-5763180 Share on other sites
9x19 Parabellum
Can I recommend playing counts-as Black Templar? They have some good tools for shutting down opponent's psychic phase. Thanks for the suggestion, but I run RG successor or BA successors. I don't have the BT book and don't really plan to get it. I'm not super into chasing the latest and greatest army for tournament performance purposes (but totally cool with those who do - I just don't have to time to learn and practice new rules on a regular basis).
