Doctor Perils
Hi,So, considering the schedule for the first phase of the project Kelborn has put up, thought it might be a good idea to compartmentalize discussion around the different factions and the planet. This thread is for discussing the Planet on which the Warzone is set (and potentially moons?) No polls with this one ;) Please discuss the name of the planet, and any cultural and geographical elements you'd like. Suggesting settings for battles and shadow wars would be a good idea too. I've seen quite a few good ideas for political factions on the planet already, which could make great setting off points for necromunda-style campaigns and RPG campaigns too. I'd also like to see some ideas for characters discussed - who's the Planetary governor? Is the head of the local PDF trustworthy? Why does the ceremonial garb of the ecclesiarchy on this planet look vaguely silvery? ... Ace Debonair
Everything is useful - we're weaving a world and every detail is a thread. Church of the Emperor Becalmed, though? I sense a history of intense ecclesiastic debate with the Church of the Blessed Depths, probably over trivial details like whether the presence of the Megachthonic Kill-Squid (we're pretty sure there's only one) is a sign of His displeasure. Mazer Rackham
That's kind of what I was going for. There's an old episode of Red Dwarf where there's a religious schism over the colour of hats. I thought that this would be fitting for the amount of religious deviation that is tolerated between oddball strains of the Ecclesiarchy as long as the Big E is the subject of the devotion. It's kind of the "Green!"/"Purple!" sketch from Babylon 5 as these 40k theocrats/redeptionists go around beating each other up whilst wearing a golden conch... I had a thing about exiles "Going to the Sea" or alternativel as punishment being Keel-hauled, which is SERIOUS on (under??) a floating hive city... jaxom
I do like the idea of world that was originally biodiverse, but after millenia of Imperial exploitation is now all toxic seas where bacteria and krill are harvested and refined for trace heavy metals. The refineries could be Mechanicus domains while the fisher folk are all devout Ecclesiarchy (I may have watched some Foundation recently). There could be a schism of whether the nets should have a diamond or square cross pattern? There could be a schism of whether the nets should have a diamond or square cross pattern? How DARE you! Diamond cross patterns are influenced by the foul and perverted eldar and must be avoided at any cost! I like the idea of an ecosystem gone wrong, as hives and AdMech activity both excel at pollution. Heavily polluted environments can become quite similar to those found around undersea volcanic vents. Fishers who had brought good catches in earlier centuries are now more and more finding their nets filled with weird spiny tentacly gribbly and gross stuff that tends to disintegrate into stinking puddles as soon as it is pulled from the water. This in turn leads to fishers moving ever further into areas that had previously been avoided for being dangerous or haunted. The mad utterings of iron kraken, rising to destroy the unwary, or the interlopers above the watery tomb they call home. As they travel they function as homebases for the fleets of fishing ships that each Traction City houses, the underwater mining and drilling facilities that exist near their path send their spoils to them for further transport to the hive, they are also equipped to take in any sargasso they travel through which is then processed during the trip and traded as foodstuff and cloth when they reach a hive. Each Traction City is a society of it’s own with their own traditions – Gillmansbrokians only eats the parts around the head of the fish they capture, the rest traded or taxed to others; the people of Mumuk-ka all pierce their nipples and paint their brows blue; the ones from Number 14 all carry knifes and consider knife duals the highest forms of combat; etcetera – and unsworn to any single hive, even if all of them are allied to one or more hive houses or guilds by ancient or new pacts. The thing is that you wrote "Non-stationary - City sized vessels e.g Giant Fishing Vessels" and even a small hive city is way to big to be used as fishing vessels, even if you hunting kaiju-fish. It's something that in size is way beyond mega cities, in a Mortal Engines way to look at it would a mobile hivecity be something that ate London sized Traction Cities with ease. I can see London sized, and smaller, traction cities travelling between the hives but not really hive sized traction cities Edited November 28, 2021 by Gamiel TechCaptain 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/372370-flashpoint-liber-the-world/#findComment-5767940 Share on other sites
