This has been bugging me for some time now, and I think the brothers here might have some thoughts/ideas to help me out. What is going on with Suppressors? Every other 3-model unit has now received a separate release and all the other infantry units like that were also given a multi-pose version with either new weapons or additional modeling options (Eradicators/Eliminators got new weapons, Bladeguard got more poses, etc...).

I don't see them on the table often, or really ever. Their guns are alright and they have the movement to get out of trouble if needed, so I do think there is a case for using them as backfield objective holders that probably work better than most armies "sniper" units.  Are they a forgotten unit, do they need a different weapon to put them on the table, or do they just need a separate box so that people can buy them without having to throw out money for a Combat Patrol? So what is the possible plan for Suppressors?

They are not used because of a variety of factors. Having better options for what they do, taking up slots for other units, being harder to get on their own.

Also they are possibly the ugliest models in the entire Space Marine line.

If they were easier to get and looked a bit nicer, more people would use them. As for why they have not gotten their own kit yet... Only Games Workshop knows why.

They will probably see more use once Tau come out though, if Tau are as powerful as every other recent codex. Turning off overwatch will be strong against that.

I think longe range fire support infantry are out of vogue in 9th with terrain rules, for the cost of a cp you get to use eradicators in a similar reinforcement role

The penalty for moving with a heavy weapon hurts them too, and denying overwatch not as useful as it once was

Outriders so far the only other marine unit not to get a multipart kit

In my default 1500 points list, I use two squads of them. We play on the GW tournament table setup, and even with all the LoS blocking terrain, they do a nice job for me. But we're not playing in a competitive environment.

I like that they can stay back and still get to fire at stuff, can jump over cover to fire or reposition quickly and especially in the late game can move to an uncontested objective, if the opportunity presents itself, or to secure the Oaths of Moment center objective.
