Crusader squads (non-primaris)

Just filling troops slots.

In 9th pre-codex rules, classic crusader was once 15pts per model. But even at that price, tournament lists still only take 5 men squads to filling troops slots. Spamming them in larger counts was not profitable.

Now,18 pts…

well, putting them in rhinos to move up the board and assault things would be fun, and you can give the sergeant and an initiate a power fist each for a nice total of 110pts per 5 man squad. Gives a nice punch to a unit that the opponent wouldn't expect too much, with 5 power fist attacks on the charge. Otherwise, let them have chainswords and some special weapons and you are good to go.

Also, if you're not going into a rhino you could give a minimum squad 1 neophyte for the smoke grenades they give the squad.

Or, if you don't care about too much competitiveness you could make 1 big squad of 20 guys, put grimaldus or an apothecary near them, and charge them forward across the board. I recommend giving the neophytes in this squad shotguns for that sweet, sweet damage 2 strategem.

What are the thoughts on initiates Neophytes? They seem a lite squishy with only 1 wound at 13p.

My guess would be either:

*Go big with lots of shotguns for the "Incendiary shells" damage 2 stratagem
*Take a single initiate for the smoke grenades.*

*cough*Neophytes*cough*

Initiates are our full fledged battle brothers.

And I'd agree with going shotguns for the stratagem
