Captain on Bike and Shooting Question

So if I have a Captain on a Bike and he takes a master crafted boltgun - Can he shoot the twin boltgun on the bike along with the master crafter boltgun during the same shooting phase?

 

Since he's not a vehicle I don't think he can and then that brings me to the point why would I equip him with a master crafted boltgun?

 

This may be answered somewhere else but I couldn't find it.

A model can shoot with all of the ranged weapons it is equipped with (except for pistols, but it can instead choose to shoot with all its pistol weapons). Nothing limits this to only vehicles. So he would be able to shoot the twin boltgun and the MC boltgun.

He can, and more, he can rapid fire with both thanks to Bolter Discipline he can rapid fire both weapons at full range after moving. Biker captains do well with an extra rapid fire bolter, I load mine with the Primarch's Wrath and laugh at opposing MEQ units.

It's worth pointing out that the because the captain has the biker keyword you'll always benefit from bolter discipline with the master crafted bolter as well.

 

Personally I think storm shield and melee weapon is stronger but I play mostly primaris at this point.

Ultramarines do this build really well - Storm bolter upgraded to the Vengeance of Ultramar and the Paragon of War Warlord Trait. On a bike he gets 12 shots, reroll wounds against non-vehicles with 8 of them and ANY 6s to wound result in an additional Mortal Wound on the target.

 

Get into Tactical Doctrine and your Captain actually becomes quite good at shooting then charging an enemy character or elite infantry. He mows down light infantry too!

Even playing White Scars I tend to spring for at least a Stormbolter on my Biker Captains, a lot of games having him just randomly pump eight shots accomplishes more than his Thunder Hammer.

Yes but generally you're better off Mastercrafting something like a Thunder Hammer over a Storm Bolter equivalent.
