Lord_Ikka
Created a fun, not really competitive list for my Deathwing that I can haul around without being too big of a deal (mostly as a second army or backup army as needed). Basic plan is to combat squad the big termie unit to make them backfield objective holders, put the chainfist relic termies in the Land Raider, and have the characters/knights/relic termies with LCs in deepstrike (possibly splitting them into two groups with the Libbie/relics and Chapter Master/Knights). Secondaries would be very dependent on map/enemy- I can see Stranglehold/Behind Enemy Lines/Stubborn Defiance depending on map, and then Assassination/Martial Interdiction on enemy characters, while probably taking Oath of the Moment just as a general all-around secondary. Thoughts? ++ Vanguard Detachment -3CP (Imperium - Adeptus Astartes - Dark Angels) [9CP, 1,964pts] ++ **Chapter Selector**: Dark Angels Battle Size [12CP]: 3. aura_enchanted
The deathwing terminators 10 man squad could use some th/ss to soak damage the inner circle helps a little bit but it's not that amazing, there's a limit to how much it will do. In addition the assault cannons aren't bad, I'm more a fan of the cyclone missiles for indirect fire but your choice is acceptable Then we come to the relic terminators, honestly mix the chainfists with the lightning claws to create squads that can do more general tasks, specializing squads works great at range but as a hypothetical here, if squad 1 gets cornered by a tough enough opponent they would spend forever kicking at it, meanwhile with squad 2, they could get overwhelmed and while they could kill well killing many may prove more challenging and that could mean getting bogged down or drown in attacks which is an effective counter to inner circle and then their in lots of trouble aren't they. Generalize don't specialize your melee weapons. To tackle a variety of foes. Claws mean more attacks and chainfists mean better anti big. Lukoi
Just checked battlescribe and it doesnt mention cyclones being indirect/ignoring line of sight. Is that still correct and bscribe missed it? Or is there a strategem perhaps I am overlooking that allows them to be fired as indirect fire? aura_enchanted
apologies still on average the CML does the same damage (heavy 6 vs an average on heavy 2d6 of 6) at greater range and has krak rockets for anti big targets where it will do more damage this dramatically boosts threat radius of the squad even a little bit and that is the primary enemy of terminators. terminators all of them are basically a 12-18" melee threat radius and a 24" shoot. the assault cannon doesnt help this at again only 24" the CML is 36 alongside the plasma cannon and the plasma is okay considering u got rerolls from your chapter master but you could kill yourself with it which is bad and the CML doesnt do that the heavy flamer is bad, never take them. this is a fun list and u have one on the relic squad and im not going to tell u to get rid of it, nor will i speak ill of this decision but heavy flamers since the loss of flame templates and wall of fire are generally not doing much damage at all. they are at most an anti charge weapon vs hordes and at least is going to do most situations less damage then having a storm bolter which is a whole statistical thing ill allow the tortoise to explain to you terminator weapons options he uses the normal terminators but this doesnt change anything beyond the lack of the plasma cannon in the discussion which admittedly isnt a bad one: and here is relic terminators: Edited December 26, 2021 by aura_enchanted Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/372675-2k-deathwing-fun-list/#findComment-5776147 Share on other sites
