Be'lakor took first place, followed by Duinclaw and Helbrecht in second and third place respectively.

As well he should have. Chaos reigns Supreme!

Yet, when I look at the new Chosen and compare them with CSM and Havocs, all I see is interchangeable models with little to no distinction.

Chaos Coolness may be waning. The Gods are fickle.

Angron will come out if World Eaters are next year. Come now. ;)

Chaos once again.

That crab thing is just a meme I take it?

Memes sometimes come true

Has the monkey with a knife been released yet?

Monkey with a knife?

Two monkeys fighting on a boat in international waters while betting is happening, its a Simpsons episode. I mean, they could do a Jokeroo with a power knife? The crab was cute. My vote was for Bel'akor, a very impressive and imposing sculpt with an actual decent base.

I'm a little salty that it's once again a large winged chaos monstrosity, apart from Ghazghkull it's the same kind of model every year. Don't get me wrong, it's an impressive looking kit but so many great sculpts have been overlooked. The meme crab vote doesn't exactly help matters. It doesn't even look like a very good crab.

I think this looks way better in comparison. Not that it's a GW model but looking at this in my opinion puts memecrab in it's place somewhat.

I hope that next year isn't won by another winged daemon or a running joke. It's not worth getting bent out of shape for, it's just a bit of fun. It makes me wonder what 2022 will have in store for us. Hopefully some thoughtfully sculpted troops will be recognised over the biggest chaos model of the year. :p

Warhammer Underworlds model.

The crab was a literal waste of space slot. Sure its a neat little crab, but it had no place on the list.

I'm just gonna point out, High Marshal Helbrecht is also on there because of the "sword wiping Servitor", same as the crab.

I'm honestly surprised that two of the meme votes actually got second and third place.

I'm a bit lukewarm on Be'Lakor, I feel between the huge wings and that RIDICULOUS base (seriously, that thing is a terrain piece, not a scenic base for a wargaming piece) he suffers majorly from "GW Centrepiece Syndrome". Helbrecht I think deserved 3rd place, he's a very cool model. I'm not so sure the crab was exactly second place material but he is a nice little miniature.

Admittedly, I didn't vote this time (out of absent-mindedness more than anything) so I can't really comment, but my personal picks for the top two slots would have been different. For the second place spot it'd be a toss-up between the dragon kit (I actually think of all GW's "big" kits it's one of my favourites, just a really cool, classic looking dragon) and more or less any of the Kruleboyz models (I absolutely adore them, specifically the slight callbacks to the pre-Gorkamorka orcs/orks). First place, possibly the Emperor's Champion. Of all the Primaris'd versions of existing sculpts it is by far and away my favourite; it captures the spirit of the original almost perfectly, to the point it almost looks like a metal miniature. The pose is the right mix of stoic and dynamic without being either overly static or too flail-y. It incorporates Mk. X armour design into the classic armour really well. It's just a damn cool model.

If there is any truth in the World Eaters rumors and Angron gets his own model next year, it's going to be another big winged chaos model again next year haha.

I thought Be'lakor was the only one of the top three that 'deserved' to be there, Helbrecht was cool, but very much a step down from some of the other models like Sigvald in my opinion, both on overall look and especially on composition. That said, I don't really mind that they memed things into 2nd/3rd place though, it is an open vote and any motivation you want can make your vote, so all of them I guess deserved to be there in that sense.

If you're not into the big chaos centerpiece, you might best be preparing yourself already :biggrin.:

I've got my eye on this year's Avatar of Khaine. I imagine it will be one of my votes at the end of the year, but I'm obviously not going to call my favourite miniature on Jan 1st. :teehee:

New Berzerker sculpts themselves could win.

But yeah, an Angron sculpt would have considerable appeal.

A hypothetical Angron vs the Avatar for model of the year feels like it would be a genuine contest - the community's thirst for and obsession with Primarchs vs. the decades-long drive for a plastic Avatar/Eldar revamp.
