MadEdric
So the Aquila killteam gets the initial battlefield role that the army takes at the start of the game, and then chooses another. I'm unsure what happens if the initial battlefield role is changed. Say through a strat or moreso if you are playing the new Strikeforce. Say you take heavy as you army battlefield role, so the aquila team gets that, then chooses elites. If I play the strat that lets me change my battlefield role, and change it to troops, does the Aquila team keep the heavy role, or does it change to troops? If you use another chapter tactic in the strikeforce, I would guess you lose the initial heavy choice, but would keep the elite choice you took. How have others done this? thesilverback
I think the heavy would change to troops and you would get to keep elites, using your example. Lemondish
This specialism selection here applies "after selecting a Battlefield Role for the purposes of the Xenos Hunters chapter tactic", allowing you to select one additional Battlefield Role. Adaptive Tactics tells you to change the Battlefield Role selected for the purposes of Xenos Hunters as well. So two things come to mind there...firstly, your question: Say you take heavy as you army battlefield role, so the aquila team gets that, then chooses elites. If I play the strat that lets me change my battlefield role, and change it to troops, does the Aquila team keep the heavy role, or does it change to troops? I'd imagine it then changes to troops as well as keeping the elites choice. But then it also kind of reads like you would then select a new one for Aquila as well, since that is triggered after selecting a Battlefield Role for the purposes of Xenos Hunters, which is the exact trigger for Aquila's selection process already, and Adaptive Tactics is essentially just doing the same thing midway through a match. This is a weird one, imo. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/372713-the-aquila-killteam/#findComment-5790724 Share on other sites
leth
The trigger for aquila is "selecting your battlefield role". When using the strategem you are "selecting a battlefield role" So IMO when you use the strategem to pick a new battlefield role you also pick a new second one for your aquila specialism. Which I think is perfectly reasonable since it would suck to effectively have it be wasted if your seconday aquila is the same as your current one. It also requires having a watchmaster in your army and 2CP so its not inherently broken.
