Brother Christopher
Excellent work, as always. The chain mail, an the rest of the GS work, looks awesome. Truth be told, if one were to be nitpicky, there are just a couple of wonky links on the right shoulder pad, but that a nonissue. The plasma coil turned out gorgeous, the leather bits are looking great, too. You also did exceptional work with the chapter symbol on the belt buckle. And I love the base with the flowers and whatnot. In all seriousness, thank you. We only get better with the truth. The one thing i dont like about chaplains is their black armor. I had a hard time with this one, as he doesnt feel to me like he fits with the rest of the army. This particular model has a lot.of leather and warm tones, while most of my army is cool tones. He blends in once hes with a unit, but you know how it goes. As for thr belt buckle...thats actually a waterslide decal, but I will sheepishly take credit. space wolf
Well, the whole gang is done. And i think i may have figured out the lighting. Jinong Jagaa Baratu and his Relic Squires. The Reclusiarch of the Void Panthers, Jagaa wades into battle with holy relics, to remind his brothers of past honors and the glories to come. The Standard of Unity was cast from the deatroyed iron gates of the Temple of the Illuminated Matron, during the Scourging of Ondar. It is a reminder of victory through uncompromising faith and unity. The Lantern of Vaneer. Taking the overall shape of a large maul, the lantern is adorned with the skull of a psycher defeated in the boarding action at the Battle of Vaneer. This relic is a reminder that through sheer determination, victory can be snatched from the jaws of treachery. The Pillar of Sorrow, was what was left of the Imperial Temple on Zambula, after it was leveled by an Ork WAAAGH. It symbolizes the righteous hate all servants of the Emperor have for the Witch, the Xenos, and the Heretic. And of course a 360 for those who want it. Volgon
I think it looks great! Lots of nice details, but doesn't feel overwhelming to me. My only recommendation would be to try and adjust the angle of the head if you can. Perhaps it's just the photo, but in the first picture it appears that he is staring straight ahead despite the fact that he is both walking and aiming at an angle. I think it would look better if you were able to position his head so that it is following his aim and momentum. space wolf
I totally get what youre saying. I cant turn it anymore toward the arm, however if you look closely, its tilted down like hes taking everything in, but using his side eye to aim down the pistol sight. space wolf
So Ive decided that my first Host Seneschal (Crusade squad sword bro) will be my emp champ model. So with that, the above model will be his replacement in the squad. Im working on two mor 10 man hosts (crusade squad) so here are the two Senschals leading them: Ive decided that each Seneschal will.have his own unique icon that he bares, celebrating his career victories. Brother Christopher Posted yesterday at 10:19 AM Share Posted yesterday at 10:19 AM As always, excellent stuff. The painted Chaplain with servitors squires are characterful and look great. I very much like the greyish tone on the faces suggesting that the squires can grow awesome bears but fight the elements and keep their chins tidy. An excellent choice fitting the overall aesthetic. You also keep surprising me with your creativity. I particularly like the jaw (is it from an ork kit?) Spoiler I must confess that I'm quite prone to wanting stuff I see and I think I'd really love to have a kill team of wicked-barbarian-themed Templars. Kudos for the consistently impressive output. And, once again, many thanks for sharing this unique project. By the way: I'm quite surprised that you base your models before priming, grass and tufts, too. space wolf Posted yesterday at 02:52 PM Author Share Posted yesterday at 02:52 PM (edited) @Brother Christopher Thank you for the very kind words. Talk about a validation boost . To answer your question, its a jaw from the citadel skulls kit! You get ork skulls in both top and bottom halves. My output is due to me having the time. Dont worry, that will taper off as life gets in the way, lmao. As for a kill team, play your cards right, amd i might be able to help with that . So the reason I base the way I do is that I can get a consistant control of how I want it to look...paint eveeeerythiiiiing. I would buy models looking like yours but I wouldn't dare trying to pull something like this off on my own. I believe that I don't have the right kind of creativity in me. Also, at this point in life, I want to stick to painting more vanilla models. With my plasticard stuff taking so much of my hobby time, I feel I'd rather focus on painting. And because of that it's particularly fun to follow your progress - it's like a fun kind of windo shopping (for hobby projects). 17 hours ago, space wolf said: So the reason I base the way I do is that I can get a consistant control of how I want it to look...paint eveeeerythiiiiing. That's another level, to be honest. I've never considered painting grass/tufts before.
