Gnasher
How about weathering with just dust / grime, no (or few) scratches so it looks like its fairly new to the theatre, been used but not yet seen any really heavy engagements? space wolf 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/372774-the-void-panthers-steel-speaker-bengaal-techmarine-done-29-aug-2025/page/5/#findComment-6127609 Share on other sites

Brother Christopher
On 8/11/2025 at 7:39 PM, space wolf said: Rereading your comment are you talking about how I apply the highlights...like in a scratchy/sketch style? If so, i do that because i just cant be bothered to glaze in smooth transitions, lol. This way they look pretty good up close and better a table top distance away. This is what I was thinking about. I like the 'can't be bothered to glaze transitions' style - it works really well and I know that it only looks better in person. On 8/11/2025 at 7:39 PM, space wolf said: So youve pointed out something that Ive been on the fence about. I had nit intended on decorating the vehicle with any trophies. 1 because im lazy and dont like converting vehicles. 2. Because I can justify it in my head cannon, that trophies are about personal victories. Since vehicles are used by numerous members if the chapter their vehicles would lack such ornamentation. And 3. The Void Panthers are ironically, a very practical chapter, thuse the use of camo for vehicles that can quite easily become targets. I dig the explanation. It makes sense from a lore perspective. And given your progress with the already painted tank, it also works mode-wise. Lacking creativity as I am, I think that it would be a difficult task to make the model tasteful after some Cimmerian tuning. I wouldn't know where to start with adding bones and fangs and whatnot. I know that you would make it work, though. Having said that, keeping things more 'vanilla' also makes sense, particularly when it comes to the 'lesser,' more utilitarian vehicles. With regard to weathering the vehicle, I agree with @Gnasher. Add some scrapes and scratches here and there and you're fine - it'd be a waste to cover up/distract from the cool paint job. I also like the front-mounted multi-melta with the side-mounted mag. The metallic gun makes the front more interesting. One thing I'm not sure about, though, is the shield generator. There is something off about it - it either sits too high on the top of the hull or it's not reinforced by sandbags enough (or perhaps a bit of both?). Or maybe the sandbags are a bit too small? I'm not sure. I'll admit that it also might just be the photo - the generator and bags look okay from the side, but somehow worse in the more top-down photo. It might be because how small they are on the large camo canvas. space wolf 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/372774-the-void-panthers-steel-speaker-bengaal-techmarine-done-29-aug-2025/page/5/#findComment-6127682 Share on other sites

Im happier with it, so I appreciate the push. @Gnasher and @Tallarn Commander ive come around to this, Ill be doing this with all my vehicles and marines. If you go back to the first page, i actually DID do this for the chapter master, lol. Here's the completed vehicle. Any feedback is always appreciated. Does the shield generator still look wonky? and as always a 360. Thanks for looking. Tallarn Commander
The shield generator looks excellent, not wonky at all. It provides an effective focal piece for the model. space wolf 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/372774-the-void-panthers-steel-speaker-bengaal-techmarine-done-29-aug-2025/page/5/#findComment-6128192 Share on other sites
space wolf
So i finished up this guy in about a day. Seneschal Yaatu of Host Maw "A war with greenskins is like wrestling a Gorox, all brute strength. Use your cunning to appy your strength at the right point, and they will collapse under their own weight, like steel drawn out too thin." So i can start on the crusader squads for these last two sword bros, or i can start on sword bro squads proper, or i can do a dreadnought/vehicle , or a techmarine? Suggestions? space wolf
So ive startrled working on a tech marine. Primirdan culture puts high religious esteem in the shaping of metal. This extends to the Void Panthers own culture where their techmarines are considered a specialization of their chaplain corps. firestorm40k, Rockybaerboa and Tallarn Commander 2 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/372774-the-void-panthers-steel-speaker-bengaal-techmarine-done-29-aug-2025/page/5/#findComment-6128477 Share on other sites

space wolf
@Tallarn Commander thank you, I used the new termy librarian and some mechanicus parts and heavy intercessor torso. Ive finished this guy, so hes ready for paint. Ill post up some pics later. But here is a 360 if any are interested. meanwhile, after my repulsor failure, i bought a true repulsor chasis. And ive been working on turning it into this: Edited August 20 by space wolf Tallarn Commander, The Pounder and firestorm40k 2 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/372774-the-void-panthers-steel-speaker-bengaal-techmarine-done-29-aug-2025/page/5/#findComment-6128820 Share on other sites
The Pounder
As a child of the 80’s I fully and wholeheartedly endorse what you’re doing here! Thunder Cats was my favourite cartoon, I had the sword and everything! Your conversions are fantastic and paint style crisp, well done. Having said that, I'm glad you rearranged these the sand bags - they look great now. As per usual comment about some details: I like the chains and yellow barrels sticking out from under the camo netting. Good stuff, as always. I'm looking forward to seeing what you'll conjure up with the Repulsor. Are you planning to make it open-topped? I'm not sure if that's the right expression, though - I mean to ask if you're intending to make it a cabriolet (), with the drivers' compartment open, like the reference Thundertank is? space wolf
@The Pounderit was mine too! Just got my 3 year old into it. I couldnt be more proud. Thank you for your very kind words, from one 80s kid to another, im very happy you enjoy my work. @Brother Christopher yeah i think the sand bags look way better now, so thanks again for that. #solidarity. As for making it open topped, i dont think im THAT brave. Lol bit ive made some progress on the front. Brother Christopher
The use of a Librarian model for the Techmarine was a great idea. The added bulk works very well. The modified backpack with more going on on the servo harness is also top-notch - I consider this a nice throwback to Techmarines of old editions. I must also say that I love the photos with the 'scenic background' - the result is well worth the effort. I know that you've been doing this for a while but somehow the tank in the background particularly caught my attention. space wolf
@Brother Christopherthats exactly what i was going for. I like the old techmarines. Its free and it eliminates backgrounds, then i can just pop in another picture as a background. I started doing it because i think it adds more immersion to the models. With this particular one, seemed a tank was appropriate considering the model.
