Evil Eye
I'm looking at getting myself a 3D printer at some point (probably an Elegoo Saturn), as 3D printing is something I've always found fascinating, and the opportunity to create even more models for me to never finish is always tempting. I'm not (just) interested in printing other people's creations though; I'd love to be able to make my own, possibly with a view to distributing them for the fine folks of the internet to print themselves. (I should disclaim I am intending to make original sculpts and not make 1:1 reproductions of existing miniatures.) However, whilst I have been practicing with Blender for quite a while now and have certainly made some progress, I still have a long way to go. "Blocking out" the shapes isn't such a problem, but when it comes to adding detail I struggle quite a lot. It probably doesn't help I've started "in the deep end" with attempting a totally-not-a-Tyranid, and let me tell you getting those ribs right is a pain. But in any event, I'm a bit of a novice at this sort of thing and could do with some resources to help me learn. So with that in mind, what are some good sources of information on the matter? I do have a Skillshare subscription, and I'm open to acquiring books if there's any good ones on the market. Doghouse
Blender Guru has taught me a lot just by watching his vids. One good little program I use a lot is called 3D Builder by Microsoft. It's really good if you want to start out simple and have an easy way to make objects and vehicles such as tanks. https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/p/3d-builder/9wzdncrfj3t6?activetab=pivot:overviewtab I've been using it to add parts to organic sculpts at the moment like this practice head I made for my marine project. This is another useful one for basic sculpting.
