2000pts Dread Host (No Forgeworld)

As suggested in the discussion on the new Custodes Codex, here is the 2000pt non-Forgeworld list I intend to try out over the next few weeks. I will report back on how it gets on.

 

 

 

This is the "Walking Brick" list I have come up with for playing over the next few games. I dropped my Vertus for another blob of Allarus. Basic idea....

- Trajan, Vexilla, ShieldGuard and Dreads move forward dead centre. 

- Captain, Blade Champion (From Golden Light), Vexilla and Allarus drop in and smash stuff from side/rear. I think the Blade Champion giving buffs to other charging units could be beautiful.

- SpearGuard try and hold a flank objective each. 

- Prosecutors hold a home objective, hiding in cover.

 

Hopefully it works out as 2000pts when CA is released.

This list is fiendish I feel. It's only real weaknesses are speed to get across to an objective and very very powerful firepower from things like Tau that will punch through your defences.

 

I think the first is mitigated by carefully selected Secondaries and the second by Arcane Genetic Alchemy and removal of enemy rerolls with Emperor's Auspice.

 

I certainly have no criticism of the list at present so please do some playtesting and let us know what went well and what went poorly. Then we can start fine tuning.

So one thing am I blind or do you only have one additional relic?

 

I only see the obliteratum and the Admonimortis? That's only one relic extra.

 

 

Nvm found it gatekeeper...idk if that's worth a cp in my humble opinion. Why take it?

Gatekeeper is great and all but if you've got access to Admonimortis then stick with that. It's very powerful, thanks to Damage 3.

I think I'm getting the point of it now: it's a lot of shots considering he's probably babysitting a unit that might be occupied capturing an objective (the sword board unit).

 

It gives you some strong dakka to make up for a whole unit being occupied even if their guns frankly stink for the points.

 

For one cp you are getting 4 shots at 12 (or maybe even 14" depending on your stance).

I used Gatekeeper recently and it was amazing.

 

I still think if I was dropping in with an Allarus Terminator I'd want a Damage 3 Axe, but it's all good. :)
