Came across a small box of niddies recently and after showing them to my 4yo, decided that 1) he's a little too young for this yet and 2) when he is old enough, these can be his as he loves these bugs.

Of course, I can't resist the urge to paint up a few of these before they're passed over to him...hopefully I can restrain myself from painting everything so he will have something to paint.

Trying to go for a bioluminescant glow with this- inspiration from the glow worms of the Waitomo caves in New Zealand when holidayed there years ago.

Another Hive Fleet emerges! I can see the influence on the scheme, it works nicely and will be very striking across an entire army. Maybe the question might need to be more on your little Termagant learning to replicate the scheme when the time comes to inherit :P

Thanks!

Ha, yeah, it might be a bit tricky for him to replicate the scheme when it's handed over. Give him something to work towards...or he paints everything from scratch- that'd be heartbreaking.

Mr NomNom just got finished tonight.

XD

It wasn't too bad. Went better than I expected; still working out my flick technique to get the spotted colour on the carapace. Too find it doesn't stand out, too big it just looks off.

I haven't batch painted in a long time, so even just those 10 gaunt was a reminder that's it's a time consuming process for the little guys- made longer with the spotted carapace. Going to have to find a better order of doing things. Maybe starting with the blue base and being messy to get it done quick and then doing the black base on carapace and putting some painters tape either side to do the speckling so it doesn't go on the blue...

But yeah, I'm having to stop painting these models. I'm having too much fun and I can't stop myself, so I've gotta leave the models that are left...and buy some models of my own to paint. It has to be done- I can't leave my Lil hormagaunt with nothing to paint!

So I grabbed a box of venomthropes last night.

That paint scheme is great, Very deep jungle cave looking.

You need to finish painting these models up and then gift them to your son on his 7th birthday as his starter army alongside some single piece minis to learn to paint. After that allow him to pick what the next army\unit\etc is and let him learn to build.

Otherwise though congrats and great job thus far.

On a sidenote, My son also chose Nids after looking at the majority of things available and my friends kid did the same. I wonder what it is about the Nids and kids of both gender being totally enthralled by them.

Kids just love bugs.

Apparently at my kids daycare recently there's been a heap of grasshoppers in the gardens and the kids are going crazy over them; putting them in little mesh cages and watching them eat grass in there before letting them go again.

Guess spaxe bugs are just as fascinating?

Space ship. Space Rock. Space bugs. Space virus. Space homework.

In Space, everything sound cooler.

I assembled those venomthropes, but I saw the neurothrope head there and couldn't let it go to waste.

With a bit of work, made up my own Neurothrope.

Some local flooding over the past couple weeks gave me time to finally finish painting my venomthrope unit.

Been greatly anticipating getting these done so I could build up the Tervigon I got. Mostly because I'm wanting to see if there's a way I can convert the lone carnifex I have into a T-fex for the much needed ranged fire-power.

Tervigon is finally done. I can think of no better psychic power for her than Psychic Scream as she splurges out several gants at a time. XD

Can feel myself starting to burn out on painting now. I might have enough left in me to paint up my kitbashed TFex, but after that I'm gonna need to take a break from painting.

Tfex is finally done. That's everything I currently have painted up now and I am done with painting for a bit.

Including my boys 6 warriors I let him throw paint on, this is about 1250pts.

I'd like to get up to 1500pts one day but I'll fill those point up with little gribblies as I need many more of those to get that beautiful ocean of nids.
