Theres a few sellers on ebay that sell tufts that I stumbled across before xmas, reasonable prices as well if memory serves, could be worth looking there.

Just found this one, got some interesting stuff, I never thought of using lavender grass tufts before, may compliment my Eldar...

I've got an unopened one sitting on my desk here, didn't even know they'd discontinued it.

I have some greenstuff world and some army painter ones, I can see about comparing the two to see if any of what I have is close. I guess I'll need to categorize a matching one anyways.

I'll do that this weekend and get back to you if I think any are close. I can at least rule a various assortment of tufts out if I don't find a match.

Swamp or winter seem the most likely match from army painter. Greenstuff world beige looks like it might match as well.

None of the ones I have seem to match all that well.

Middenland tufts look to combine a green component with kind of a dry grass component, whereas all the tufts I looked at only do one of the two. As the dry grass component is stronger, I would try to match that.

I have some spare Middenland Tuft (somewhere) and use Army Painter Swamp on my Primaris army and they don't match. Winter is even paler.

I think Middenland Tuft might match with an older Army Painter Swamp from 10 years ago I used on my Angels Encarmine but that's not available any more.

I think the closest match I have would be mininatur (also known as silflor) "late fall", a german railway grass maker. I've seen them branded various ways; calcareous tufts, karst tufts, buffalo grass (us) and two colour grass depending upon seller, but the best bet is to go by the number. You can also usually find them in model railway shops if you want to compare options in person - they do a TON of different colours.

Here's 737-34s (top) late fall and 737-33s (bottom) early fall.

I tend to do a mix of both types for arid/dry bases e.g.

They do shorter tuft versions as 737-24s and 737-23s (more suited for 15mm gaming). The 's' indicates 'sample' strips (mine above are single 15cmx4cm sheets doubled over); they're also available in much larger bulk sheets which are more cost effective if you're doing a model railway or scenery piece.

For what it's worth, army painter used to be silflor grass rebranded, but I don't know if it is any more.
