Imperial Fists 973.M31 - Garrison 113/12 Omega 6

This is a what will be a very small Imperial Fists garrison on a previously free human world that has been bought to compliance. This is a 3d printed project using files I have created/modified myself, as it's a bit uncertain about IP stuff with GW at the moment I want to personally avoid all that so unless it's something completely not their designs I can't share my files. But having said that similar stl files can be found on Cults3D and Thingieverse.

 

 

Carcere Mundi - "Misery" 113/12

 

 

 

Carere Mundi was a heavily industrialised desert world, the surface of which had long since become barely habitable thanks to hundreds of generations of heavy mining operations and thick toxic pollution which spews from the smoke stacks of the vast tracked processing facilities that crawl across it's surface. Terrible monsters and outcasts attack supply convoys and forward operation facilities adding further to the dangers of venturing below the smog. 

 

Much of the history of the planet has been lost. From historical myths and legends Imperial Scholars of the Great Crusade have managed to establish that the original settlers did not come here of their own freewill. It is not clear as to who it was that brought them here, some legends and folk songs speak of powerful entities that abducted them from their beds as punishment for some transgression where as others describe what could be a vast generations ship that ploughed through the stars thousands of years before.

 

The planet, known locally as Misery due to the horrible standards of life before the coming of the Emperor, is home to five billion newly compliant citizens of the Imperium. The planet had been found by a scouting team of the 113th Expedition which was made up mostly of Imperial Army and Adeptus Mechanicus forces being a small fleet of less than a dozen cruisers of the Imperial Navy. Contact was established and the planet was brought into compliance with little unrest, while some extremists did exist amongst their number these small bands of resistance were quickly destroyed or driven out to the wastes.

The vast population of the planet exists on huge platforms that float above the toxic storms and flesh eating gases of the planet below. These habitations rival the greatest Hive cities in size and it is not fully understood what technology is keeping the now overladen platforms afloat. It appears that at one point they were huge processing and landing platforms capable of accommodating a cruiser sized vessel and that over the generations habitats have been added until they resemble great ant hills cobbled together from scrap and ship wreckage.

 

While not part of the initial Expedition a small force of Imperial Fists was stationed to the planet once it had been established that the world was capable of producing vast quantities of ores and promethium that would be vital to leading expeditions further south into the region know as the Veil of Stars to the galactic south. Of more interest to the Legion however the locals had tested highly for compatibility with their Gene stock making the planet a rich recruiting ground for new recruits.

Sergeant Lucian Thrace

 

Thrace had been born on the Consus Drift, a series of asteroids linked by the wreckage of their original vessels that had been stranded there by the Warp. The Clans who grew to dominate the space bound society had refused compliance by order of Rogal Dorn and the 3rd Expedition. The following battle had been swift and decisive as the Imperial Fists easily overwhelmed their enemies who would be known as the Driftborn.

Thrace who was a young child at the time had been tested and found compatible so had been inducted into the Legion.He had proven to be a capable and competent soldier who ultimately had been selected to stationed at the garrison keep of Carere Mundi. 

 

This small force is a bit of an indulgence in 55mm Astartes and the humans that they serve with, a narrative force. This is the WIP of Thrace. The force is set around twenty years before the Heresy and serves as a forward operations base for elements of the 113th Expedition venturing below the southern galactic rim.

 

The planet has become the target of a minor Ork Warlord that has ventured from the south, drawn by the which has caused massive disruptions to local shipping lanes and has kept the 113th on constant alert in the region.

 

 

This next picture is one of the first Orks, I want to try and make a patrol of both the Imperial Fists and the Ork Warlord at this scale.

 

 

The Astartes will all be in a mix of MkIV and MkVI armour, the Mk IV being difficult to maintain the garrison have modified it by using parts of the experimental Mk VI armour. Most noticeably the Mk VI Corvus helmet is favoured due to the enhanced autosenses assisting patrols on the corrosive planet surface. More often than not they are mostly dealing with local scabbers, mutated scavengers that venture out on occasion to attack Promethium convoys for salvage. More recently they have had to contend with growing reports of greenskin activity leading Thrace to believe that the Warlord may have made planetfall and could be gathering in number. There could be any number of reasons how the Orks arrived such as spores brought to the planet onto board illegal surface miner vessels.
