L30n1d4s
I have been playing with this idea for a long time now, never actually implementing it, but now that I have the new Codex in hand, I am thinking again about using Genestealer Cult rules to create a "Counts As" Catachan force (as context, all my armies are Imperium, so this would keep them in line with my other forces, but still let me play with the awesome rules/playstyle of GSC). My thoughts are something like this: Patriarch = Col Straken Primus = Catachan Officer Iconward = Catachan Banner Bearer Neophytes = Catachan Troops Acolytes = Catachan Devils Jackals = Catachan Roughriders Ridgerunners = Catachan Scout Cars Goliaths = Catachan Jungle Tanks Abberants = Catachan Ogryns As for the various special characters, they could represent all kinds of Catachan Commando specialists, including Catachan Sniper (Sanctus), Catachan Sapper (Reductus), Catachan Close-in Fighter (Kelermorph), etc. Finally, any Catachan "heavy armor" (like Leman Russes, Artillery, etc.) could be added in via a Brood Brothers detachment. As for which Cult would best represent Catachans, I think Twisted Helix would do well, with the +1S, +1" Move, and "mini-Transhuman" represent them as better/tougher than normal Guardsmen quite well. Rogue
How's this one going, L30n1d4s? Anything to see yet? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/373246-genestealer-cult-rules-for-proxy-catachans/#findComment-5797053 Share on other sites
L30n1d4s
No progress so far, unfortunately. I have tried researching 3rd party models for Catachans (I am looking for something beyond what GW currently offers), but that is as far as I have gotten so far. If I make any real strides, I will try to let you all know in this thread. Master Antaeus
The jungle tanks you mentioned could be hellhounds with different weapons. Those would go well for the trucks. I had this idea as well and here is what I came up with:Patriarch: since it's a 50mm or 60mm base, I was thinking this would be a whole command squad on one base, accounting for its number of attacks, wounds, psychc powers, etc. Primus: Senior Officer Magus: Catachan primaris psyker Abominant: Orlock arms master with arc hammer Aberrants: Ogryn with knives in place of clubs. Iconward: regimental banner Atalans: space marine scout bikers with catachan arms Neophytes: standard catachans Acolytes: Goliath gangers stripped down and painted in catachan colors, swap space marine knives for weird goliath axes. Any of the specialist characters are easy to represent with the existing range. Atalan ridgerunner: atalan ridgerunner with catachan crew instead of GSC. Makes a perfect astra militarum buggy Goliath truck: chimera with the back unbuilt Rockgrinder: Hellhound chassis with dozer blade. Xenith
I mean, Partriarch = Sly Marbo on scenic base, surely? If you take Twisted Helix, you getthe +1S that Catachans get, and +1 movement to simulate greater mobility than their opponents in the jungle.
