Captain, Incursor, possible 1x Infiltrator deploy in front and disrupt opponents deployment, then redeploy with Lord of Deceit off board or the Infiltrator unit in my deployment zone. Cunning of the Wolf the Eradicators to come in with the Phobos Captain. Predominately the Infiltrators will be performing actions. 20x Skyclaws intended to clear out chaff, The Battle Leaders have options to use Thunder Hammers in case the unit gets locked down. Wolf Guard bring the hurt, with full re-rolls should roll enough 6s to hit more than they swing, with a giant Chaplain Radius Everything can spread out. Outriders can provide support or contest objectives almost anywhere. Librarian provides bubbles to help keep the big group alive. Yeah Skyclaws will lose 9x attacks, but that still leaves 32x chainsword attacks with exploding 6s everything else is overkill.

 

Should I rejigger some points to give the Skyclaws better special weapons? Plasma or melta? Any other changes?

I think this is better, same basic setup, just realized exactly where I could find points. The meltaguns/combi-meltas could be replaced with plasma, 8x plasma shots sounds kinda nice and more in line with removing the same targets.

Skyclaws and outriders confuse me

 

Skyclaws first

As a successor you lose berserk charge bonus attack

 

Seems like they are a melta delivery unit

 

You can make WG with combi meltas and SS or terminators with combi melta and SS

 

terminators can even hit on 2s with fury of the first stratagem and teleport means mobility doesnt stop them from doing melta job...when i run terminators they get combi melta + LC for multi purpose role...the o ly bad part is expensive

 

outriders i tested long ago and just bleh...good luck if you keep them

Skyclaws - I am aware that they will lose one attack each, however after smacking 5x Assault Intercessors into a Nurgle Demon Prince and bringing him down, Thunderhammer on the Sgt, I am not that concerned about their melee output. Especially when you add in the extra hits from 6s, and double exploding 6s. The Thunderhammer and Melta’s are there to help against tougher targets, I am considering replacing the two melta’s on the normal guys with plasma. The other things with the Skyclaws is that that is 20x Marines, or 40x wounds. The thought is that they aren’t something to be ignored. And will draw fire away from the Wolfguard.

 

Outriders - I haven’t used them yet. I am thinking if them as fast units to nab objectives, or units I can perform actions with.

Couple of final tweaks to consider

 

morkai bolts for phobos

 

Make librarian warlord and give hunter to him instead of chaplain. your armor of russ needs to make it into key combat. the chaplain can still boost 20 and has huge range with vox relic.

 

5 heavy melta is overkill. consider dropping 1 or 2.

 

i would add company vets for the bodyguard rule...this lets your phobos captain stand in the open firing his morkai bolts without fear of being shot

 

alternatively bump captain up to chapter master. reroll all hits is huuuge in this army

 

can also upgrade 1 eradicator to MM basically doubling the number of shots

 

good hunting. curious how those sky claws perform. not something i have seen or heard about being used

Morkai Bolts is an interesting thought, it gives the Captain a bit more to do than support the Earadicators and redeploy the Incursors.

 

Company Vets would require an extra Command Point expenditure to stay with the Captain.  I am redeploying him at a minimum with the Eradicators, and if I go second him the Eradicators and the Incursors.

 

Chapter Master and Saga of Hunter: Chaplain Litany of Hate Grants full re-rolls, then uses Canticle of Hate to increase charge range and consolidation, and gets Saga of the Hunter so that after he makes a charge roll he also provides allows everything in his Aura to Advance and Charge all within 9" of him.  

 

Heavy Melta is all or nothing, I have found that 3x is anemic...though that was their regular guns.  With all 5x Heavy Melta I don't really need the Multi-Melta.  Unless I drop two Heavy Eradicators and give a remaining Eradicator a Multi-Melta, that would give me 95 pts to play with.

 

Those 95 pts can go towards Chapter master or Eliminators....

A thought occurred to me what if I replaced the Eradicators with Eliminators:

my sweet spot is 3 heavy melta and a MM for 205 total

 

didnt realize you are doing reserve captain + eradicators

 

maybe upgrade to a combat oriented captain with the points instead?

 

 

Morkai bolts is a LT reroll basically which you lack

 

You can also give them to wolf guard pack leader (give him a bolter too)

 

THs with savage strike and reroll 1s is real good. keen senses mean they hit on 2s as well
