I don't follow Black Library closely, so I'm not sure about how they typically operate.

But I was really interested in Danie Ware's Triumph of Saint Katherine. I was disappointed to find out that it was released ONLY as a limited edition, and of course, it is gone. So the question is: When BL release something as limited edition only, do they usually follow it up with an accessible print run later? And if so, do they generally put out a hardcover first, or jump straight to soft cover? And finally, how long does it typically take?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, Black Library follows limited edition prints with regular editions. The timespan depends, sometimes taking only a few months, but sometimes taking longer.

Note that I've changed the topic title to give people an idea ("Black Library Question" is uselessly vague) and I've moved this to the Black Library forum.

Who knows, Im still waiting for news of a regular release of Ghazghkull Thraka: Prophet of the Waaagh!

You must've simply missed the news, then. It's due for release in March, even according to the WarCom Coming Soon page. Amazon lists it for March 15, too.

Regarding the Triumph, I would not expect a regular hardback until August-September at the earliest. Realistically, I wouldn't get my hopes up on getting it before early 2023. They're extremely random with release scheduling; heck, Astorath: Angel of Mercy is only getting its regular hardback in two weeks - and that was released at the end of 2020.

Wow, thanks for the great news! I didnt even know that page existed on WHC.

Glad I'll be able to get a copy. Unfortunate to hear a bad review; I'm just really curious to read an SoB story that's written by a woman. Most 40k stories don't go terribly deep into the psycho/ emotional depth of their characters anyway... But I'm always  wary of male authors who try to write from a woman's perspective. I don't think Faith and Fire did a terrible job, though again, avoiding psycho/ emotional depth isn't getting it right... It's merely not getting it wrong.

I haven't read Danie's short story either, so I have no frame of reference.

Guess I'll just pick up Ascension Day in the meantime.

Thanks for the feedback.

Have you read Rachel Harrison’s Mark of Faith? I think it’s exactly what you’re looking for - a Sisters of Battle novel written by a female author that focuses a lot on the psychology of its characters. Harrison’s extremely talented too. I’d take her writing over Ware’s any day.

Harrison’s sisters books are great and I still love James Swallows old books.

I’ve tried Wares new book twice now and I left it bored stupid both times. The high sanctimonious style of the sisters is just too hard to read constantly. I know they are ladies of faith but they are human not robots. They haven’t been genetically enhanced, they aren’t space marines. They have human flaws, they will have a sense of humour. Loose the humanity of humans and you loose my interest.
