Tzen
As a general rule, I avoid painting resin miniatures. This isn't because the designs are bad, but I find that if they aren't vehicles with large flat surfaces, the resin just can't handle the level of detail. However, when Argel Tal came out, I knew I had to paint this fella. He is the first Possessed Chaos Space Marine, and his character is amazing too in the Heresy. Some areas of the miniature hold up quite well, but sadly I still found myself frustrated with it towards the end. Would be great if Forge World could go full plastic. Iron Hands Fanatic, WrathOfTheLion, Interrogator Stobz and 18 others 21 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/373433-argel-tal-%E2%80%93-the-crimson-lord-commander-of-the-serrated-sun/ Share on other sites

Silas7
I'm sorry but I don't understand what you mean about resin not being able to handle the detail. Your paint work looks great either way. Tzen
Thanks chaps! I sorry but I don't understand what you mean about resin not being able to handle the detail. Your paint work looks great either way. It's not that the resin can't handle the detail, I just find that it is often too sharp, and the moulding process often ruins the detail because it is so crisp. Just a personal feeling on it, not trying to make a bold statement or anything :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/373433-argel-tal-%E2%80%93-the-crimson-lord-commander-of-the-serrated-sun/#findComment-5800432 Share on other sites

Gnasher
I think it could do with a bit of gore on the base, I know marines flash clot, but not a drop when ripped in half? Otherwise sublime as ever! Bjorn Firewalker
Excellent work. Are those dead Night Lords in his hand and at his feet? The color would normally make me think, "Ultramarine," but the Mark III "Iron" helmet doesn't look very Ultramarine-ish. Tzen
Thanks chaps! :D I think it could do with a bit of gore on the base, I know marines flash clot, but not a drop when ripped in half? Otherwise sublime as ever! I actually painted some patches of blood over the base, but it is hard to see in the pics. But I hear you, can always do with more gore! :D Excellent work. Are those dead Night Lords in his hand and at his feet? The color would normally make me think, "Ultramarine," but the Mark III "Iron" helmet doesn't look very Ultramarine-ish. They are Ultras, but I darkened the blue with some blood and dirt, which makes it look a bit more night lordy! :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/373433-argel-tal-%E2%80%93-the-crimson-lord-commander-of-the-serrated-sun/#findComment-5802448 Share on other sites
