The_Stray_Idea
It’s been a long time since I have been enthusiastic to work on the warriors of the Fang. That said the Sea Wolves have really sparked some inspiration and creativity. Kicking it off with the Wolf Lord Engir Krakendoom having made the decision to enjoy the new Primaris Captain I think the character has the stature to match the legend of the great warrior known to head up the company. The sea wolves dark in their skin and darker in demeanour will definitely be offering some challenges for the pallet but that’s a big part of the draw for the project. The_Stray_Idea
A little bit of paint has gone down. Imported to make the armour more tonally in line with a storm cloud. Trying to lean in on the sea faring themes of the company. The skin needed to be darker but going to dark was losing the face against the armour. I think it’s close enough now to read as dark but not to wash out and lose those beautiful details. Thanks to all for the comments so far. Do let me know what you think about the progress so far. The_Stray_Idea
Had some time to poke some more paint on. Honestly feels like Iv done loads and sweet FA all at the same time. Think the mode and tone of the army is starting to come through now. I’ll hand on heart say the skin tone has been a night mare and it’s be re painted a couple of times. Though finally happy with a more natural looking tone. Well in my opinion anyway. I’m happy to hear if I am wrong on that fact as I have never truly painted dark skin up to this point. The_Stray_Idea
Slower progress but it’s been a busy week. Not overly happy with how the swords come out so will be giving that another stab over the weekend. But really enjoying the warm brass tones that have gone in and started making the leather feel a bit less eye drawing when you look at the piece. Other than that a bit of sharpening up of some of the teeth patterns. space wolf
I really like it. I think because you're doing the sea wolves you can go even heavier on the viking influences...well done The_Stray_Idea 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/373530-sea-wolves-great-company-project/#findComment-5805742 Share on other sites

The_Stray_Idea
So I had another stab at the blade. Much happier with how that’s turned out. Just some scroll work left now and it’s onto the base and setting the scene a bit more before I go back for some battle damage and weathering. The_Stray_Idea
Cheers all for the positive words. Much happier with that direction on the blade. Now I’m wrestling away with basing and some weathering in between. I have been referencing Fjords in the early spring as a working base line for the type of landscape I’d like to create. Given I want to try and capture the equatorial region the company comes from. Still heavily WIP I’m not usually one for water effects so been a lot of back and forth creating this so far. The_Stray_Idea
The relentless WIP’s are over. Engir Krakendoom table ready and finally off the work station and into the cabinet!! The_Stray_Idea
@space wolf Thanks appreciate it. So the plan was meant to be a rune priest but some bits looked at me funny and a Wolf Guard Battle Leader happened instead. Wanting to capture the Beast Slayer Saga with this one. I know it’s not optimal but very fitting for the right hand of Krakendoom I feel. Went for a Goodwin pattern bolt gun to nod towards the old true grit rules of yester year. Been very enjoyable so far. Though still huge amounts of work to get done on him. Hope you all enjoy. Dosjetka
Wolf Lord Krakendoom looks fantastic! The storm grey armour is especially good, as are the skin and power blade. :tu: The Wolf Guard Battle Leader looks solid so far: nice use of Rann's axe, looks much less daft on a Primaris-scale model. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/373530-sea-wolves-great-company-project/#findComment-5820080 Share on other sites
