So, whilst they are not super 'meta', I like the idea of super-hero characters do crazy stuff on the table top. So I'd love some ideas for "out of the box" smash/slash/tear character options for BA and FT - Warlord traits, relics, stratagems, the works. Either maximum damage output, maximum durability or just a creative mish-mash of awesomeness :)

Please don't confine yourselves to just jump characters, I'd some to see some bike captain/chaplain builds as well as terminator builds :) (especially for Flesh Tearers using the crimson plate relic armour).

For context, I was thinking of running "trio" of "super hero" characters, probably a captain, chaplain and a Lt in a fluffy list for leauge games, but open to librarians and other characters as well :D  Death Company also welcome.

Looking forward to seeing your amazing ideas :)

I know I've brought this guy up before elsewhere, but I really like the idea of a nigh invulnerable chapter master in gravis armor. Have him babysit that other high-durability unit you take the midfield for OoM points.

Power sword, master crafted boltstorm gauntlet, Angel Artifice, and the adamantium mantle.

Sure he's slow, but meet the new smash :censored: er

T6, 8W, 2+/4++/5+++, 6 D3 fist attacks on the charge (7 in assault doctrine) who can give himself rerolls to hit. Just for good measure he also has the couple extra sword attacks and the ranged attacks on his boltstorm gauntlet, which is a pistol and can fire into combat, are D2.

FWIW, he can shred chaff with the sword. 8-9 attacks on the charge at S5 with RT will remove a lot of 1w models from the table.

Thanks for sharing, it looks interesting and potentially a great captain to go with some BGV or assault terminators with thunder hammers :smile.:

Here's a few to get you started

However, those are Captains. Chaplains and Lieuenants have potential too :smile.:

Let me introduce Captain Swordmaster from DC

Bike mounted, armed with Teeth of Terra and storm shield, given Imperium's Sword...

He can shred elite infantry with 10A hitting on 2's (or more if using Death Vision), wounding on 2's even models with T5 and is quite survivable with T5,6W, 2+/4++/6+++ (which can be upgraded with Stratagem or Death Vision to 2+/3++/5+++)

My Chapter Master is in Gravis, wielding a left-hand powerfist (I think it's from the Devastator box, it's pointing at the little holotable from the GSC Nexos) and a Guardian Spear. I'm going to get a Deathwatch shoulder pad when I can and add on a cape or cloak. I use him as a Dark Imperium Captain, and I usually run the Master of the Codex WT, but the first time I fielded him, I ran Artificer of War and took the Adamantine Mantle as well as the Chapter Master relic. Planted him with a squad of Heavy Intercessors and laughed heartily as an entire Leman Russ Punisher squadron failed to wound him. I got lucky, but seeing him proceed to munch a Russ and it's nearby infantry squad in one turn with the intercessors was oh so satisfying.

Weirdly, I like librarians for doing dumb stuff well. Having a Phobos Libby appear from nowhere, rip the secrets from the opponents mind before carving them in two with a force sword is legitimately powerful with a little bit of the Dice God's grace. Bonus points if you give the Libby the 3-shot bolt pistol relic and also eliminate a character with that.

I like the indestructible Biker Chaplain build.

Primaris Chaplain on Bike

Relic: Armour Indomitus

WLT: Gift of Foresight

2n WLT: Artificer of war to buy Adamantium Cape

You have a T5 8W character with a 2+/4++/5+++ save and a free rerolled armour save every turn. If you want to make him hit harder too then Mantra of Strength is great. Plus he has great mobility.

This is just me theorycrafting, but here's the mounted shredder: budget variety!

Bike Captain, ToT, storm bolter, Imperium's Sword

At a mere 105 points, this guy is nice and cheap, and you don't need to spend any CP on him if he's your warlord, though you can if you want.

With 8 shots out to 24" he doesn't have to wait to get close and personal before dealing damage. When he does get up close he's got 9 attacks on the charge at S6 (10 attacks in assault doctrine), and with a 14" movement he'll most likely be the one doing the charging.

Probably a nice captain for smaller games or if you're short on points.

I 've also been toying with the idea of a "ballistic missile" Primaris Chaplain on bike.

WT: The Imperium's Sword, Angel Exemplar WT: Gift of Foresight

Relic: Benediction of Fury

You can add more if you like. but with Mantra of strength, on the (re-rollable and +1") charge, you get seven attacks S8 AP-2 D4 (with potential mortals and our +1 wound roll)

Eight attacks with Savage Echoes...

Just throwing this out there because he's been very effective in my Crusade games so far. A company champion with the Shield Eternal relic and The Imperium's Sword WL trait. An absolute monster in combat, especially against characters. Probably not something you'd use a lot in matched play however.

The invulnerable save is a big part of their durability so ignoring it is a big pain. Be sure to make full use of their Character protection. In melee, you will just have to pick your fights carefully. Primaris characters have an edge here as THP can provide an extra layer of protection.

A lieutenant with a jump pack, twin lightning claws, and artificer armor is slash-captain light. 6 attacks on the charge (7 in assault doctrine) and reroll 1's to wound aura makes for a nice little mobile buff-bot with some reasonable damage and survivability.

Add master crafted to the claw for your MEQ shredding needs, but remember that one of those attacks will always be D1 because of RAW.

I really like this idea - a great escort for other jump units that might benefit from re-roll 1s to wound, i.e. units with without lightning claws :)
