Thematic 9th Company Vets Loadouts

Greetings!

For years I have had 6 2nd edition Devastator bodies without arms and I've recently aquired a classic plastic arm sprue to finish them. However I lack the old school heavy weapons and have 10 Devastator Squads already.

 

My plan is to make 5 company vets and a lieutenant for the 9th company. The associated characters will come later, this is all about firepower and looking cool.

 

What weapons should I arm them with? Combi-weapons seem the obvious choice here. Any suggestions?

Combi-plas, Combat Shield and Chainswords with a TH on the sarge is my go-to.

Mine are magnetized for options, but Jings suggestion seems very sensible. When I play mine, I tend to like more storm shields. The way I have it listed in battlescribe as a default is:

2x chainsword/combat shield/combi-plas

Nice. I have two company vet squads, one with shields + combi-plasma, and the other with shields + combi-melta. Thats how I built them. Nothing to stop me from assigning them chainswords too when I use the list builder. Thanks for the tip.

In my old DA army (before I sold the old stuff and bought new one to rebuild as a Sucessor) one of my favorite squads was the vet squad with plasmas and combi-plasmas. They just deleted stuff out of the board.

In this new iteration I still have to rebuild one just like that!
