The indestructible Primaris Biker Chaplain with Gift of Foresight, Armour Indomitus and Adamantium Mantle (via Artificer of War 2nd WLT). T5, 8W with a 2+/4++/5+++ save, a one-off 3++ and rerolling a failed save every turn. Season with a litany of choice and go to town on some heretics. I run mine with JP DC and Forlorn Fury as his 20" Advance means he can keep them in Litany range, even if he cannot charge himself.

Purely based off the themes I've seen lately, Dante has found his place back in several top lists just for the CP he brings, and he's still decent in combat.

Troops wise I think it is still incursors, and a unit infiltrators.

Thunder Hammers love Whirlwind of Rage. Lightning Claws do too.
Tactical Withdrawal means we cannot be locked in prolonged combats and can almost always benefit from charge bonuses. Plus our mobility increases.

Agreed. This seems to be very powerful.

Interestingly, BA won a GT recently:

Interesting list. I normally run a single big blob of SG rather than multiple blobs because I find it too hard to keep them all in range of the Warlord to proc HOA. Or are they good enough that they can go solo most of the time?

The only AT seems to be the DC and Centurions, nothing ranged. Obviously it is working for him but I am wondering what the strategy is.

That list looks very menacing! It makes sense that AoC would really strengthen centurions.

I don't know about others, but I'm currently 3-2 with BA at Rocky Top with this.

Won Vs Admech army of renown, Slaanesh CSM noise marine spam, and chaos knights with 1 big knight and 10 wardogs.

Losses were round 1 leviathan but still eeked out 71 pts, and then a bad loss round 3 vs now top table GK meta list with 10 paladins where my dice absolutely betrayed me and his saves were smoking hot.

Can see how most of that list works, but how are you using the Inquisitor?

I run a similar Inquisitor (although I usually skip the relic). Terrify is a useful psychic power as it shuts down Overwatch and makes charging safe. Smite is a free D3 MWs and an extra Deny. The Esoteric Lore WLT means you gain a CP on a 5+ each time an opponent uses a stratagem. This should net you a couple of CPs every game although my dice always seem to go cold on me. :biggrin.:

The Universal Anathema allows you to always wound on a 2+ in melee against non-vehicle targets. Handy when paired with a Force Sword although I prefer to keep this guy out of melee as he is pretty squishy. He is a support piece rather than a frontline fighter.

Nicely done :tu:

Can see how most of that list works, but how are you using the Inquisitor?

Khara has the right idea, it opens up psychic secondaries against armies that don't have psychic denial, gives me one deny vs people who do run psychic secondaries, the 5+ cp regen usually nets me at least the cp for the warlord trait so it's at least free, and sometimes gives me a lot more than that. And the relic is just the least terrible he has access to. He has slain a Tau commander in melee this tourney.

Against Chaos knights and admech he maxed out on ritual, and against Tau he scored 12 on interrogation.

In a pinch for 1 cp he can also get a reroll hit roll of 1 vs xenos targets.

The only dead game he had was vs GK, where 1 deny doesn't mean much and they deny better than he casts.

I'm now 3-3, with my only loss today a very close game vs Tau. (76 to 81)

Went 6-0 after day two, final 8 eliminator later today.

He beat:

Chaos knights

Hail of doom eldar

Kraken nids

Hail of doom eldar

Harlequins

Kraken nids

That is impressive stuff! Leveraging AoC on 2+ save units seems to be paying dividends. I am guessing there must bemore to it than that though, beating Knights without significant anti-tank investment is no mean feat.

My final tally is much less impressive

I had a fear that successor traits would've been better thanks to all the transhuman, and was proven correct

Probably should've run whirlwind of rage, the +1 to wound only really mattered against knights, and against leviathan and sisters brick it was miserable.

But went 4-4 and had more total vp than most of the people who went 5-3.

  • 5 weeks later...

It's going to be interesting to see how the BA meta shifts over the coming weeks now Nephilim is out in the open. As it stands, some folks are trying to capitalise on the DC secondary and running multiple DC units, others are focusing on maximizing secondaries like Relentless, Assassination, and Behind Enemy Lines. Seems like the LSS and Whirlwind are currently out of favour too.

With AoC + the point changes in Nepilim the biggest winners are not a surprise and hinge around three key traits:

#1.  A 2+ armor save not dependent on a shield.

#2.  The ability to function from cover or maximize the use of cover as they move up the board.

#3.  Received a points cut or are already cheap for what they do.

Sanguinary Guard are the clearest winners holding the trifecta of all three traits.  Tactical Terminators are also big winners being able to put out real dakka from cover while being very hard to shift via shooting or melee.  Death Co don't have the 2+ but they have the other two keys.

Some sleeper units that I think have potential in BA.  Las Fusils Eliminators have the trifecta like Sang Guard.  They got a big points cut, have a 1+ in cover, and can hold backline objectives while still doing work vs heavy infantry and light vehicles and monsters.  Infiltrate is the cherry on top of this tasty flexible unit.  Vindicators with siege shield.  The last point drop has made the very cheap, with T8, and a 2+ save.  Their gun is very swingy, but they are very cheap and very durable and their gun is too dangerous to really ignore.
