Will there be a legion or Loyalist/Traitor painting event?

When 2.0 drops and all of us get our starters, will there be maybe a 3 to 6 month painting competition to get legions up to size and see which side of the heresy has more support on the forums?

I remember seeing a thread about bringing back ETL, and it was mentioned that these painting challenges are a lot of work to moderate. Something to keep in mind

I know the A&A Chaos vs. Eldar even really has me motivated! I think I will complete my pledge on time, but even if I don't, I will have painted more than I have in a very long time. I'm really motivated and very excited for my next two projects!

I'm not sure I could commit to the challenge, but I am sure one will be run because that's one of the few ways I'd get something painted :)

Well if you wanted to be in charge you’d have to do a few things:

 

1) check with Mods/Admin they are happy for you to run an event - just so it doesn’t clash with too many others.

 

2) Set up the thread, with rules in the opening post, probably in the WiP forum. Check out the other events like “it’s a bug’s life” Tyranid painting event for inspiration. You might even have 2 threads if you want “Loyalist vs Traitor”.

 

3) Advertise said event in the News Forum and maybe Age of Darkness too.

 

4) keep score/award badges/adjudicate on “legal” entries/completions etc

 

Advice: it turns out to be a lot of work, so keep simple.

 

Optional: find a talented artist who might produce badges and banners for the participants/victors, even the dreaded “badge of shame” for those failing their pledge if you introduce that rule.

 

Tip: see advice above. Grotsmasha has made a rod for his own back with 4 classes x 8 types of badge! And some years he’s made points affect a strategic multi-player team campaign game. The dizzy heights! Don’t try this on your first event. You have been warned.

Need to build my Sicaran, would be a nice model for that... Resin's scrubbed, just needs cleanup and assembly.

 

* Note that in the best-case scenario of the server upgrade, it'll be done before the box release date.

I've got about 10 Cataphractii primed for my Word Bearers, with another 5 Tartaros almost there, so saving up a bit on the ready as long as there's no ludicrous requirement that they not be primed, which would certainly be a downer if so.

 

Would probably cause me to just skip any event if not primed was the requirements, that'd be utter crap. I might still participate with some other kits, but been saving those terminators up for it, so I'd be quite let down.
