Played a game against new nids. I love AoC.

played 3x5 Sword brethren. Imo still not good enough for tournaments. Therefore Impulsors are a bit too expensive

My list look like this:

Helbrecht

MoS on Bike with Wise Orator and Tannhausers Bones (+1 A and 5+++)

Selfless healer with Aurelian shroud

Judiciar with Oathkeeper

5 Flamer Aggressors with Champion stratagem and crux obsidian

2x5 SB with Swords and Pair LC

1x5 SB with Swords and Pair LC ( holy Orb )

2x5 Incursors

1x5 Assault Intercessors with Fist of Balthus

1x8 Intercessors with Assault Bolter

3x Impulsor with MM  ( I really love them. I hop we will see point reductions and maybe 'FLY and 4++ in new codex)

As I thought before: vows are very different now. And Marker-play is still one thing we can do better as most other Marines. In cover our units will survive a lot of shooting cannot handle before.

If only we got deadly cargo for any vehicle :(

Also how do you guys use vehicle ? Make them move and advance and then the next turn, letting your marines outside to move and charge?

My opponent played

Swarmlord

Hive Tyrant ( my opponent didnt know that there was just one allowed per detachment)

20-30 termagants

20-30 hormagants

3 Tyranid Warriors

3x1 Pyrovore

1x Tyrannofex

1x Deathleaper

4or5 of those tyrant bodyguards

Trygon

1x3 zoantrophes

1 forgeworld unit ( 9wounds character which have a -1 to hit aura/ forgot the name)

I roled higher so I had to start. My Multimelter Impulsors destroyed 1 pyrovore and a big amount of gants and 2 bodyguards. I played very aggressive and moved the impulsor towards the opponent so I could charge with all my SB in round 2. He charged me with the the Swarmlord in the middle and took out a incursor squad and damged an impulsor. I was able to charge the Swarmlord with my sword brethren and Helbrecht. the judicar + MoS and Aggressors charged the bodyguards and the two characters were able to consolidate into the swarmlord which gave him fight last for next round. Another SB unit charged te zoantrophes and the holy-orb SB charged into the tyranid warriors. Sword brethren can deal a good amout of damage but they die soon after they did their job.

Helbrecht took 9 wounds and then he interrupted and killed the SB. the next SB squad which got autowounds stratagem deal just 5 wounds to the zoantrophes and because of that failure I was not able to consolidate into the pyrovore ( so he was able to shoot next turn into my SB what finally happend). My last SB squad took the stratagem for exploding 6s and finally whiped out the Tyranid Warriors and consolidated into the other pyrovore on a Marker inside the deployment zone of my opponent. He decided to counter charge the squad with the melee-gant unit and whiped them out in 2 turns.

in short: we had to stop the game because of time. I had far more points but all SB units in round 3 were gone , the bulky aggressors and my characters stand in the middle of the table and 2 Impulsors on each home markers with 11 and 9 wounds left. The death leaper was about 6" from one of my home-marker away and locked in combat with 3 incursors (2 models were killed by him before and it was very likely that he would win the fight and could move into my marker. On the other front the other troop unit which has survived so far ( the 8 man squad were shot down by pyrovore and gants) had 2 models left and I decided to keep all CPs just for devout push them each round to the marker so i could secure my points for maximum. We both agreed I would win the game but no important unit would be left except the aggressors and my characters (funny because he did choose the secoundary to kill them). In 3rd round i had finally 10 points for oath and 2 times I already "scambled" oct. data.

AAC was not bad because I had 1 attack more with all characters in round 3 when Helbrecht, the judiciar, and my MoS stood within 1" with the swarmlord and half my army was in close combat in turn2. The passion not able to fall back was very hard - the death leaper normally were not likely to survive if my incursors would fall back.

Thanks for the info!

What the best against DG/ork ? Suffer not or AAC ?

Also what's the best weapon package for Swordbro ? Chainsword or lightning sword ? (I guess it's Chainsword with suffer not, and lightning with AAC?)

I think it depends on the list you play. Against Death Guard i would say AAC because they tend to have very good armor saves and AoC too. And they can take off the advantage of being the attacker with one of their characters. So I think you need lot of fight last units against him and sword brethren of course with swords.

Against orks i would say Sword brethren are not the best option against this whole faction. I dont know how usual ork lists after data slate and FAQs look like but if there are many boys I think normal assault intercessors and crusader squads with Helbrecht are incredibly strong.. I dont like suffer VOW because I think the passion is way to negative against them and if you need autowounds you still have the stratagem.

I dont think I really get what is the way to go for BT lists but I try to specify everything on AAC because I like aggressive armies and I think in next chapter approved and point adjustments (at least when codex SM 2.0 will be released) all my units will be better then before. So if I loose my games next time it has to be so but i am prepaired when melee marines can achieve victories in tournaments again.

i think so too. they dont have that many ap4 or ap5 and some of them ignore cover and so far I know not much S8 --> no uphold

they are very dangerous in close combat and very fast --> no AAC because you have to fall back allto often
