I think Dark Angels are actually coming out on top of this new Armor of Contempt.  Marines vs Marines are going to be a slug fest, but it looks like the active combat doctrine essentially shuts this off with the weapons activated by that doctrine during that turn.  And given that Dark Angels have more ways to manipulate the active doctrine than any other chapter we should be able to keep the upper hand even in Marine vs Marine games.

We also have a nice counter to the indirect fire changes with the Target Guidance stratagem.

What are your thoughts about the new Balance Dataslate?

Im wondering if Ravenwing vehicles or bikes might be good to run now.

They were good before, and this will make them better.  As long as you don't allow your RW units to get overwhelmed, they are very durable.  And by overwhelmed I mean a significantly larger point force.

My game last week was 3 vs 3, with each player having 1000 points.  It took about 2000 points to kill off about 700 points of Ravenwing in 2 turns.  But realistically I think you would find it hard for 700 points of anything to last longer vs 2000 points.

My game this past weekend was against Ultramarines.  Armor of Contempt slowed the game a little, but that is just because my opponent only learned about it right before the game, and I was still figuring it out myself.  So I had to walk through it for every save for both of us.

The game wasn't altered much from how I expected it to go.  Because I was focused on learning the new rule, I kept forgetting to use stratagems.  I don't think I used a command reroll until turn 3, and I had rolled plenty of 1s that I could have rerolled.  But the stratagems I did remember, put my Invaders back into Devastator Doctrine, and have my RWBK fall back after attacking so that his Gravis Captain couldn't kill any more were pivotal.  I managed to kill off a good chunk of his forces before he did much to me.

His Helblasters in cover were difficult to shift getting to make most saves on 2+.  I expect we'll see more marine lists, especially for tournaments, that are built to be flexible between crossing the board quickly, and holding up in terrain to control the midfield, that they can change up depending on their opponent.
