Dear All

I am in the process of creating a samurai themed SM army, and would like to have some heads with a samurai look-alike. I have however a hard time finding a supplier who produces them. I have tryed Puppetwar but they are sligtly to small in dimension. Anyone who know a producer who makes them?

A more economical option might be to simply incorporate the datemono/tatemono (decorations), especially the maedate (front crest), rather than purchasing an army's worth of full [space] kabuto. Simple maedate might be made from plasticard, and you could get quite a few from a single sheet (probably enough for a full company).

You might then incorporate menpō (alternately mengu or men-yoroi)(facial armor) for officers/characters. A simple source of menpō might be from the Blood Angels kits, though you would have to do some cutting to get the faces under regular helmets. Alternately, you could look at the heads/faces of other suitable models (especially daemons and monsters since menpō were sometimes crafted to resemble such). You could reserve the most distinctive (i.e., those you purchase) for the highest ranking officers (Chapter Master, Captains, etc.).

Depending on where you play, conversions using only GW parts and scratch-built components might be beneficial (i.e., if you plan on playing at a GW store or in a GW event). Such considerations are irrelevant if you're not playing in a setting where conversion parts are restricted in some way.
