What are you most excited about from the new plastics?

Being able to use tamiya extra thin to build much more of an army. Seriously, so much easier to get a strong, non-gappy joint. Spartan is great of course (I just could never face the resin one), but I'm really looking forward to beakies in plastic. A much nicer contemptor, hopefully deimos pattern rhino/predators, maybe even a plastic leviathan...

To be cheesy, seeing what materialises.

It looks like they've put a lot of resources into HH and I'm excited to see what they do.

I'm particularly interested in seeing the Deimos platform though. I can see them selling a base Rhino and then offering kits (either FW or GW) to make the specialist tanks such as Predators, Command Rhino, Whirlwind (and Scorpius) etc.

I'm most excited about the Rhino. I really don't like building the current (gone?) mixed resin/plastic kit, and it's one of those that you end up having to build quite a few of.

I know this is some sappy artsy fartsy sentiment, but: I can finally complete what I couldn't as a kid.

It's not nostalgia.  Nostalgia's a feeling.  This is a finale.  It's more concrete.  It's like a 30-year cold case that I can finally solve.

It's the improved, more true scaled Beakies and stuff.  Y'know, Beakies have been around, I could've gotten them if I really wanted, but they never looked right; their legs were too skinny.  These new ones look about right.  And of course the plastic Deimos Rhino and I think plastic Deimos Predator, right?

There's that other thread about Traitor Ultramarines.  Like many of you, I started with Ultramarines, but it really wasn't my choice back then.  I was with a group of friends in a Stranger Things-like basement and back then it was Blood Angels, Dark Angels, Space Wolves then Ultramarines.  My friends took the other ones, so I defaulted to Ultramarines.  I don't say that as a bad thing, but that perhaps it was meant to be.  I hadn't thought about it, I never took it far and in fact went on to build an Ork force, but it's like there's this subroutine program laying dormant in my brain and the Sleeper Has Awakened, it's the weirdest thing.

No more cancer causing dust floating around my hobby spaces, well at least less of it anyway.

I thought I was alone in this concern, Brother.  Thanks for pointing that out.  I swear it was like Raise the Storm.

I like the hobby/collector aspect probably the most out of the pillars of Warhammer. So I am looking forward to grabbing some vehicles that I think look top of the line for the space marines and painting them.

Wish to find out more about what is coming aside from the boxset to plan purchases. And what is being changed/dropped.

The possibility of plastic MKII.

My Luna wolves have been needing some MKII love for a good, long while.

A man can dream...

Possible plastic mkII and rumoured revamped mkIII are what I’m after, but plastic vehicles are the biggest godsend (i’ve avoided vehicles so far for a reason, my cerastus knights were enough of a pain let alone big thick slabs of resin that is the spartan)

In terms of confirmed kits I’m most looking forward to the Spartan! It’s such a cool model and will be so much better in plastic.

I think it’s also unlikely that they’ll leave the beakies without a way to build heavy/tactical support squads (as I’m not sure the current upgrade kits will fit) so I’m looking forward to seeing what they release in that regard.

In terms of hoping but with no evidence I’d really love a plastic assault squad and plastic jetbikes :)

For me, the possibility of a MkII set is what's most exciting about this release. We already have spartans, contemptors and beakies...in resin ofc, but still, they're there. MkII was culled ages ago and their return would be glorious!

Huh. That's really helped me crystallize where my head's at. It is nostalgia for me.

Basically, I started back in the day with Rogue Trader, RTB01 etc. I started with Blood Angels, and have focused on them ever since for 40k. Living in a rural area now (and a dad), I don't really get to play much so I'm pretty much entirely a hobby and paint guy these days; but I like to build stuff I can actually use with the goal of a functional army - I'll get the kids involved when they're a bit older!

I did get the B@C and BoP boxes with the intent to build a World Eaters force as something that was not-BA; and they've promptly sat in my pile of shame ever since, not least as 8th edition seemed to pretty much murder any interest in Heresy locally, along with forgeworld not exactly giving it 1st tier love.

So first it's Heresy 2.0 - that with GW proper getting involved, having it as a major tier product, hopefully getting proper support - and the investment in much more plastic, which is so much more friendly to work with, cheaper (FLGS discount) and much more attractive to Heresy newcomers (which technically includes me!)

But thinking about it, what I *really* want to do is re-do those 30+ year old models that first got me in, where I can kitbash, convert and just work with and do them real justice. Then I can take some pics next to those old boys, which I think are still up in the loft somewhere! So Mark VI to replace RTB01; the extra leg height and heft makes such a difference compared to the skinny resin ones. The original RT land raider, redone as the proteus pattern; don't have that yet in plastic, but the Spartan itself was originally a conversion of that RT raider, so close enough! Deimos pattern predators - really, really hope we get that as rumoured.

And the flying sofa land speeder proteus. I may have to live with resin for that one...

And while I wait, I'm trying out replacement legs for my existing mark iv guys so I can test my shadow crusade WE scheme. I do love the WE lore. Such a tragic story, they're a dark mirror to my Blood Angels; what they might so easily have become.

There are so many resin kits I've wanted but never got because of the horror stories of resin (and I'm asthmatic, but that's another issue) so the resin kits I have got were largely limited to the armour sets the praetors and a SoH dread. But even then the praetors I had to find new swords for because the ones they came with snapped as soon as I looked at them, but plastic bends before snapping and can, normally, be rescued easily.

Plus, nothing beats the feeling of opening a box and looking at the model on the sprue with excitement that you can build it from the get go and not have to worry about soaking it until it's paintable.

Some new Mk 6 and a few of the new Ork minis, 1st ed rulebook, Battle at the Farm with better proportioned and detailed minis.

I can finally build the 1st ed army I always wanted. :)

Affordability...

The resin prices are through the roof, but I doubt these are going to be very affordable. The mk3 already costs more than a tactical squad for...reasons. Some of the current stuff like the most recent terrain has also been through the roof; combine it with a possible 30k markup and we've got a potentially very expensive plastic lineup.

Yeah, but like there's no way they're going to charge $113.50 USD for a plastic javelin land speeder...that's how much the resin one costs on the FW webstore right now.  Even if a hypothetical plastic javelin costs $75 (more than the primaris speeder), it's still a huge difference.

This is not true overall, the price is exactly the same as a tactical squads in most of their regional pricings, barring Australia, New Zealand, etc. because 40k tactical squads are undercosted relative to other exchanges for whatever reason. In the US, both are $55. In Canada, both are $65. In Europe, both are 42.50 euros, etc.

Recently however, Fafnir Rann and Dominion Zephon were under cost as compared to a normal 40k character, so there is hope there.

Oh boy, shows you how long it's been since I looked at tactical marines. For years they were 50 cad, while the heresy ones (and sternguard) were 60.

Despite being wrong, it still kind of shows what I mean. A tactical squad is 65 cad now; they were 40-45 before the new box in 2015. GW stuff is hugely more expensive than it used to be; their newest releases have ranged from poor to gouging in terms of customer value.
