MegaVolt87
I think people should be tempering expectations on savings on models that switch materials. We have seen this before- metals switching to finecast, that was a change that had savings- for GW. Then those same finecast models replaced with plastics- price increased again. At best, the kits will cost the same, become cheap if you get them in bundles much like some 40k kits such as outriders which are cheaper in a bundle than by themselves. Its not a price advantage moving to plastics kits- its an accessibility one to get new players who can't won't/ work with resin. Elzender
@MegaVolt87 I see where you're coming from, but in those cases it was GW models all along as they were "renewed" over time, and GW very rarely has lowered prices when releasing new sculpts of preexisting units. FW has generally been more expensive than GW counterparts, at least when it comes to units. Before they retired the resin bolter-toting MkIII and MkIV squads, getting a 10-man squad armed with just bolters and basically no extra options from FW was much more expensive than the plastic GW kits. Similarly, rhinos and predators were more expensive than GW plastic counterparts (although that was a bit more understandable, as it was a resin upgrade kit plus the actual rhino kit, if I recall correctly). I do expect most plastic kits to be at least slightly cheaper than their resin counterparts, with maybe the sole exception of generic characters as GW really tends to overprice them. Edit: as for the potential stormeagle/fire raptor kit, I feel that would make sense, as they are fairly popular models and they would likely be even more if they didn't have a notorious reputation as tricky kits to build. It would also make the air cav RoWs (can't remember the names) much more accessible, and put them on a similar level to drop pod assaults and armoured companies by having their most ubiquitous transports/vehicles in plastic. MegaVolt87
Actually, before regional pricing the price gap between GW plastic and FW was negligible (at least in Australia) for many products that had a 40k equivalent. Even today, if I could pay in GBP I would be saving money buying from FW. Even the postage is worse, they used to ship express. When you hit the free post cap, you get an 8 day delivery or an 8 day tracked delivery. I think GW will move soon with a ROW price hike post HH launch to shorten the gap a bit more. I hope I am wrong, though price rises appears to be about the only thing GW thinks is possible when some things are cheaper for others or a price gap. Using bundles is a new thing GW seems to be doing to unofficially lower prices and thats fairly recent. Its not all doom and gloom, a LGS I went to recently is going to do HH regularly with 2.0, the store owner is keen. I'm looking forward to the future of HH with 2.0. WARMASTER_
For me I’m not excited on price differences it’s just about finally getting sculpts I’ve wanted for years but wouldn’t buy because they’re resin, like the Leviathan Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/373919-what-are-you-most-excited-about-from-the-new-plastics/page/3/#findComment-5819323 Share on other sites
Noserenda
Yeah outside of the regional pricing madness (Where a Krieg army was cheaper than a Cadian one in Australia apparently) anything moving from FW to GW plastics typically involves a significant saving. Generally plastic kits are cheaper too, outside of characters where the oddities of GW pricing kick in, i know it was only (relatively) recently that plastic cavalry finally overtook the old metal blister prices from my childhood for example :D Plastic is the superior material for most infantry and vehicles too so its good all round usually! It was, I saw many SM armies with FW rhino's, box dreads, preads, vindi, LR's, IG elysian drop troops/ air cav etc as a result of that. I wish I had pics of the guy who was making demios pattern razorbacks lol.
