We have too much in common brother.. also a space wolf collector and your thoughts pretty much match mine on 4th and Ventris. I do kinda feel like the red trim of the 3rd company looks better and is more roman-esque to me than the green is.

Fabian should be a fairly easy conversation, I think

I would be tempted to make him Gravis armoured, purely based on some snippets he seems really aggressive.

So New Captain 2 power fists or fist and chainsword.

Many moons ago, I was very inspired by Graham McNeill's Uriel Ventris tales and started putting together a 4th Company. Then I read The Chapter's Due:facepalm: ... and it all fell apart for me (it's a long story). Still, love the Ultramarines (They're BLUE you know:wub:), so 3rd Company looked good and no one had really messed them up.... yet. Fast forward to Primaris time and then the release of the Ventris model. Turns out I still have a soft spot for Brother Captain Uriel. So, since I've old marines and new (Primaris) marines to spare, look like two companies for me.... 3rd Company (old marines) and 4th Company (Primaris).

I'm just going to have fun building, painting and playing games with them and ignore any future lore... lest I have another apoplexy:yes: :biggrin.:

Yeah the Ventris novels are a little up and down.

Long before many of our brothers were even born I reckon, I truly enjoyed the bright yellow and blue of the 2nd company in art and in practice, so I chose them. Later, as yellow shifted to gold to be more grimdark, I painted half of my 2nd company with gold trim instead. I was well on my way to collecting to 1st company by this point too. As the years passed, I acquired most of the 3rd company because I liked their lore and post Battle for Macragge banner. Finally, in more modern times as I round out the 1st and 10th companies, I've started up the 5th with mostly primaris units and a new paint style, again for their lore and because they look menacing with the black trim.

Initially 2nd company, because it was on the box and they look cool. Once I was 'in' to the hobby, and Primaris arrived, I went 7th company, as they were the new reserves. Since then, and since Ventris arrived, my Primaris have been promoted to the 4th company.

  • 2 weeks later...

I liked the blurb on the 5th Company back in 4th edition (or was it 5th?) so painted my Ultramarines up as 5th with the black trim.

I to started out with a bright yellow from back in 2nd edition and poorly experienced painting but recent times I built my Ultramarines as HH themed with gold trims. That way I got an army for 40K and 30K ;)

It’s just my own fluff I developed. Basically the division acts as a special force to deal with issues not suited for typical actions.

Nice:thumbsup: Sound like a vanguard army...... only with better rules:tongue.:
