Has Cato Sicarius crossed the Rubicon Primaris?

I know he's very much a meme, but I have a soft spot for this character - especially after reading the excellent "Knights of Macragge" novel.

 

I couldn't help but notice this particular and new artwork on the Warhammer Community page. Is that Cato??

It's just Guilliman in all his wisdom suggested Sicarius to stop rubbing his solid 24k gold pauldron in Ultramar taxpayers' faces, it's just bad for morale...

I think they said somethign along the lines of "do you supoose thats primaris cato sicarius in the bottom right hand corner?"  other guy responds with "he could have just found an old mkiv helmet so he could feel liek he blends in".....so yea Cato Sicarius lol

Knights of Maccragge excellent? I don't think we read the same book  but I digress, as of the latest chronological book of the new era, "The Great Work" / "Darkness in the Blood", it isn't a spoiler to say he hasn't. So possibly this image is a view of things to come.

Uh I hoped GW wouldn't continue replacing every character with a Primaris version but I guess it was a bridge too far to want a Firstborn updated model.

I'd say it's definitely Sicarius in new armor. It's not even an old helmet, it's a Mk X bucket.

 

What I find interesting is the gold Crux Terminatus on his cloak and the shortsword. Intriguing!

The Victrix guard that came with Calgar are the only Primaris to have terminator honours so far so it makes sense

 

I like how even though they can’t wear the armour anymore they keep their honours as they cross the rubicon

I hope there is a Primaris Cato Sicarius model soon.....i think the artwork is generic though, rather than Cato specific....he isnt wielding the Sword of Talassar, its just a standard power Gladius, so i dont think its him...its just a generic Victrix Guard.

I was wondering where this topic had moved to, as I initially posted it in the News/Rumour section.

 

@kamedake88 - I loved the novel, yes. It had so much that I wanted. It started off as a horror, then moved into the territory of time manipulating science fiction. One of my personal favourites.

 

Back to topic: Having read what was said during the stream it leaves no doubt that a Primaris Cato is on the way, which surprises me as I was under the impression that the updated supplements weren't going to receive model support. I'm now hoping that Cato isn't the only new model.

 

As for the subject of his sword, I wouldn't be surprised if the iconic blade is concealed beneath the cape, and he might be holding a ceremonial gladius for the occasion in the image.

I think it's fair to say new Sicarius is on the way, given the presenters of the stream called it out. I do hope the model doesn't reflect the art, the hall marks of the character previous armour really need to be there.

Now i do hope we get additional victrix guard with Sicarius, Calgar shouldn't just have that monopoly

A unit of Victrix (more than 2) and Cato would be great. 

 

Not sure what they could do differently gamewise to Bladeguard, but I do enjoy the winged helm, shields and cloaks the current ones have.

It’s obvious at that rank they would carry more than just a short sword… so not really a good reason imo .
