I’m really pleased with what they’ve shown today. The price news is great! The fact it’s not limited is also great!

What’s also impressed me is just how well thought this release seems to be:

1) Marines in a box of twenty.

2) Separate special/heavy weapons upgrade packs that are plastic, largely backwards compatible by the look of it and come with 10 of each in a set.

3) core units in plastic at the start

4) one book for all loyalists, one for all traitors

It really seems like they’ve planned this with a very customer friendly thought process.

Im not sure boxes of 20 are particularly customer friendly when squad sizes start at 10 (Or 5 for non troops) which makes adding just a squad or so a bit more awkward, though i suppose a marginal saving in card :D Its most annoying as a habitual kitbasher though, if i wanted to say, combine different armour Mks kits to make some veterans, the bodies really start to mount up.

Though between this and the big weapon sprues, it really is a lifeline to the bits websites!

Everything looking quite great! I am still unsure as to whether I'll get the full box from the start, as I'm not sure I have a use for so many beakies, but the price being quite reasonable might tip the balance. A couple of thoughts:

- I am kinda curious about the price of the upcoming MkIII/IV 20-man boxes, whether it will be just double the price of the classical 10-man box or whether it will be slightly cheaper. Have they announced whether MkVI will be released following the same box pattern ?

- Although I really like all the special and heavy weapons redesign in plastic, I am slightly miffed about them being clumped up in big sets of multiple weapons. I might have not much use for some of the special weapons, or I might need heavy weapons from two different sets and end up with 40 unused ones

I also don't see how repacking two squads as a single big one is supposed to be some impressive feat of customer friendliness. It's okay but... I could just grab two boxes if I need 20-man squad and not be extorted to buy 20 guys if I need only 10? Unless they is some discount involved then sure,  why not.

"Prefer older marks of power armour? The Mark III and Mark IV Tactical Squads are getting repackaged into units of 20, making it easier than ever before to fill out the ranks of your Legion."

Yes, thank you good sirs, indeed I have always struggled with holding two small rectangular boxes at the same time

Yeah, perhaps I should’ve been clearer. I’m working on the assumption that the 20 man boxes will have a saving over buying two 10 man boxes. Obviously I could be wrong, in which case it’s not an improvement but if I can get 20 for 1.5x the price of 10 then that will be good.

I also think it’s worth noting that this is good for new players, not necessarily us who already have extensive collections as 20 is great to build up a force, particularly with the new weapon packs.

My guess is the 20 man squads will be $80-$100 USD, which will be nice compared to $55 for each box of 10 now.

They also did say MK VI would be a 20-man box.

20 is also pretty fine, given with the upgrades you can always find something to do with them.

I’m massively impressed with what was shown today!

The big box being under £200 is a good deal as far as I’m concerned, also it’s not limited so no fomo!

The Kratos has really peaked my interest. If there’s a Sicaran coming too, that’s just amazing.

I’m definitely thinking my Dark Angels will be fully mechanised. So many cool options.

Sure

Maybe if there is a discount involved but otherwise not so certain - if I were to start a new force I'd rather pick something cheap, 20 marines could scare somebody off and so can an inflated price tag

Thank goodness for that, the scale creep is not quite as bad as I feared. Now we can stop with all the ridiculous attempts to compare miniature sizes using photoshop.....

So much for Heresy being dead....

MK5 is big? Praise the Emperor! Shame that the hands come with the bolters now, though I guess you can always remove the resin hand on the MK5 marine.

I don't play HH but I am very impressed with the new models. The Beakies are reproportioned just enough to look good but not so much that they start looking primaris-sized. I still have a few RTB01 Beakies in the bits box so these give me the warm fuzzies. :smile.:

The new Kratos looks tasty and brutal, it looks like a Sicaran that has decided to hit the gym and get ripped. I hope that this big boy gets rules for 40K.

I think the 20 man boxes will be $65-$75. HH has large point sizes games, Nd I think they mean to make their money on resin kits, and also on big tanks and such, and transports. I also think they are trying to make the barrier to entrance cheaper, and sell a lot of product early o .

Most of the stuff revealed, for me, was as-expected except for the weapon sets. The weapons in plastic themselves was expected but not the 60-weapon box. The heavy weapons being split between over-the-shoulder and underslung makes sense if the O-T-S have their own hands/arms.

20-man reboxes for Mk 3/4 and confirmation that its 40, not 30, Mk6 (and that their box will be 20man) was a nice surprise.

THe main thing now is what to expect going forward.

I'm not sure how I feel about the army books.  I have a collection of Loyalist Death Guard, which book do I pick up ? :smile.:  I lost track of all the information amongst the many threads and posts.

Traitor book because that would have the DG Rules regardless of if you play loyalist DG or not.

I think the Warcom article answers that. The Traitor book covers the nine traitor legions, and the Loyalist book the nine loyal ones. I would be surprised if they took the frustratingly confusing route of having a smattering of loyalist elements from traitor legions in the Loyalist book, and a smattering of traitor elements from loyal legions in the Traitor book, such that you had to buy the whole other book for a handful of pages.

Pretty stoked to see the size comparisons, they match up to the mark 4 new bodies I printed course I used Zephon as a base for my measurements so no real shocker there. I love the weapon kits and the 20 marines in a box, can't wait to see legion upgrades in plastic. Always been pretty nuts for Heresy era stuff.

I heard they were going to sell them at $80/ box. They will be charging you for the special weapons and heavy weapon sprues. I've heard they will be $30 for the box with 60 weapons, and $30 for the heavy weapon boxes. The most popular boxes are the heavy bolster & missile launchers - that may end up being less but not by much.

I'm excited this may drive people to play Horus Heresy in the US/ my state.

I think for the actual players there was obviously lots of great news, but for me being interested in the books/fluff, I would have liked for them to explain the plan going foward with Warzone books or other Liber books. No mention at all of the supposed Warzone campaign books that have been part of all the confirmed rumors.

Would also like some more info on these Liber books, such as how big they are , will it have new info/fluff and new artwork? Or is it just gonna be a simple Index book with units and stats.

strange they did not mention the sicaran that they had there for display

I’ve not seen any photos of it from the various galleries on Facebook from the event either.

If Heresy Thursday is continuing, guess we'll see that tank shortly.
